The next day, Harriet got ready for James to arrive. Just as she headed out of her room, she remembered the necklace James gave her yesterday. She walked back towards her desk and picked it up. Before putting the necklace on, she lifted the heart toward her window and let the light catch it. When it did, she admired the prismatic effect of the colours. After a few minutes, she put the necklace on and headed out of the house.

Once in front of her house, Harriet waited. It wasn't long until Harriet saw James's car drive up. When he stopped, Harriet got in and he drove away. It wasn't long before James spoke.

"I see you're wearing the necklace. It looks beautiful on you."

"Thank you. You're too kind."

They stayed in silence for a while until Harriet asked, "James, what is your middle name? We've been friends for 4 years and I don't know it..."

"Christopher." James replied with a grin to his smile.

Christopher, Harriet thought. She kept saying it over in her mind, admiring how beautiful it sounded.

"Christopher," Harriet repeated, "James Christopher Norwelle. I like it. It sounds sophisticated."

"Thank you Harriet," James replied.

After a long pause, James continued. "Since we are speaking of middle names, I only know one of yours but I know you have two. What's the other one?"

Harriet was surprised at his question. "But I thought I told you them already."

"Well you were in the middle of telling them to me but then the bell rang for class. Right before you told me your second one. I think it was near the end of 8th grade. Well 7th for you. But yea, I still don't know what it is. So would you please tell me?" James pleaded.

They arrived at school just as he finished asking his question so he turned in Harriet's direction, giving her his best puppy dog eyes.

Harriet had never been able to resist him when he did that. Looking at them was like looking at a real puppy dogs' eyes. Impossibly irresistible.

"Ok, I'll tell you. But only if you stop with the eyes. They're killing me!"

"Fine, I'll stop. Now tell me!" he said getting out of his car. Harriet did the same, and when she met up with him to walk into school, she stopped him, got up in her tiptoes, and whispered in his ear. "Chloe," she said, returning his grin as she walked off to class.

Class was the same as it always was. Boring and uneventful. They were studying math. Harriet had always been very good in math and so classes were always slow moving. Luckily, when their teacher Mrs. Pofner gave them work to do individually, she let them listen to music. That, Harriet liked. It always helped her concentrate. It also helped Harriet feel like class was going much faster than it actually was.

Harriet was working silently doing the math worksheets that Mrs. Pofner handed out when the bell rang. Harriet was so wrapped up in her work and her music that she didn't even hear the bell ring. It wasn't until Sarah, a quiet and gentle girl, tapped her on the shoulder and told her class was over. Harriet thanked Sarah and packed her books in the bag she carried with her to class and headed out. But just as was walking out the doors, a hand grabbed her arm and pulled her to a stop. Harriet whipped her head around to see who it was. When she did see, she froze like a block of cold thick ice.

It was Sebastian.
