Today's Saturday. My mum is taking me to buy stuff for my room. She gave me seventy dollars and drove me to this big store. There were tons of different shades of paint, so I picked some that reminded me of home. I decided to do two walls black and the other two white.
I wandered over to the decorations. That's when I saw the house plants. I chose three small plants and put them in my cart. They would look good on my desk. I walked around for a bit, finding a cute rug in the shape of a kitty, a bean bag because I desperately needed a chair, and some other decorations. Plus some colour changing light strips.
After I paid, I walked out the store. I looked around and saw my mum by her car. After I put my things on the back seat, I realised something. I sat in the front passenger seat.
"So what are we gonna do about school?" I asked.
"Well, I found a school a few streets away. We can go speak to the principle on Monday." Mum explained.
"That sounds good. Can you explain to him about my pronouns, please?" I asked. That's what I was a little worried about.
"Oh, kiddo. Don't worry about that. I'm sure he'll understand." She reassured.
"Thanks, Ma'" I smiled.
We chatted a little on the way back. I took my things and ran down to my room. I decided that now was a good time to paint. So I pushed the few bits of furniture into the middle of the room and put some cloth down to protect the floor. I started with the white. I got some paint on the ceiling but I didn't care. One of the walls had a little window that faced the back yard.
There was a little closet by the staircase leading to the living room area. I put the left over paint in there. I found a stepladder which was honestly a life-save since I was short for a 16 year old. I put a strip of lights on each wall of my room, near the ceiling.
"Oh yeah, it's all coming together." I thought.
I pushed my bed back into the corner. The desk on the other side of the room. My bean bag in the corner by my bed. I just really like things in corners. I stood on my bed and put my non binary flag on the ceiling, along with my bi flag. I liked how the colours shifted when the lights changed.
It was 2 pm so I went to get some lunch. I made myself some tomato soup. I got some bread to go with it and went outside. I heard the boys next door out in the garden. Emerson and Remington, I think. The fence wasn't that tall so I could kind of see them.
"Hey!" I called out. They both went quiet. I walked over to the fence.
"Oh hey Morgan! Wait, that's your name, right?" Emerson grinned.
"Yeah, that's my name." I said, bringing my hand to the back of my head.
"Uh cool," Remington spoke, "Wanna hang out with us for a bit?"
"Sure, let me finish my soup though." I told them. They said ok. I ate the rest of my lunch, put the dishes in the kitchen and went back outside to speak to Remington and Emmerson.
We played uno for a while, I only won once. I really enjoyed it, so did Emmerson. Rem went inside after a while and Em and I just talked for a while. He's so sweet.
"So what was the Britain like?" He asked.
"Well, it's cold. Sometimes it rains. Kinda boring if you don't live in a city." I shrugged. He replied with a simple 'huh'. I just smiled.
"What do you guys do for fun around here?" I asked. I really want to go out for some reason. My friends and I used to go bowling every month. I smiled at the memories.
"Uhh, there's a park down the street. We could go and I could show you around!" Emerson grinned. I bounced and clapped. That was how I expressed excitement.
"That would be awesome! I'll go get ready then," I said, "You should too."
Em said a quiet ok. I jumped back over the fence and dashed towards my house. I ran to my room. My ginger hair was scruffy so I brushed it over. I grabbed a light blue coat from my drawers. It went with my dungarees and shirt combo. I swapped my converse for combat boots. My mum came down to my room.
"Hiya, sunshine. Where are you going?" She asked.
"Oh, Emerson asked me if he could show me around. Can I go, please?" I spoke.
"Hun of course! I'm glad you've made friends so quickly!" She exclaimed.
"Hmm, yea it's been like, four days?"
"Yeah," She said. "Well you better get going, I want you back before 5ish. Dinner will be ready by them."
"Rad ok!" I hugged her. She laughed and left my room. I got my backpack, that had my phone, wallet and keys in it, and left the house.
I was about to text Emerson to let him know I was ready, when I looked to my right and he was there. Remington and Sebastian were there too.
"Morgan! My mom said I have to bring these two with me," he said as he ran over, "Are you alright with that?"
"Oh yeah, of course I am."
We set off down the street. We walked past the school, it wasn't too big which made my nerves calm down a little. Once we reached the park, Remington ran over to the climbing frame and started to hang upside down on it. Sebastian shook his head and went to sit down under a tree.
The park was massive. There were a lot of trees. A lake was in the centre of the park. There was a little board walk on one side of the body of water. The climbing frame had some swings around it and a slide. It was fun.
I think I like it here.
