Natsu didn't show up for practice the next day.
Expected, considering he was hospitalized the night before.
When the next day came around and still no sign of the crazy guy I started getting worried. We might be friends but I haven't taken that first step to texting him just yet. Mostly because I'm more afraid of his wife then him.
Lisanna showed up to practice but I'd have a devil's wish to ever ask her about him.
We practiced like we normally did and nobody seemed way too worried about the whereabouts of the right-winger. I'm guessing he informed all of them about his conditions except me.
By the ending of practice the third day, I was worried.
"Like is a single text saying: 'I'm fine' too much to ask for?" I was ranting like a helpless teenager to Thiago as we walked home. He was laughing most the way, which wasn't really helping me in any case.
Just as we turned the corner of my street, I see a figure standing at the entrance of the apartment.
"I think you spoke a little too soon." Thiago pointed. "I'll run to the gas station to get us some late-night snacks."
Thiago has been sleeping on my couch the past couple nights since well, it's free. He isn't making so much money at the moment just playing for the U20 squad. Plus, all the hotels in Magnolia are terrifyingly overpriced so I offered him my residence.
My friend turned the other way, taking the long route to the nearby convenience store.
Great.
Abandoned yet again on my own with Natsu.
I don't like this trend here.
Whatever.
Friends, Lucy. Friends.
"Natsu!" I called, walking up to him.
He turned to me with a smile. "Hey there ya are! I was starting to worry about ya."
You were? "It's only ten minutes away, Natsu. I'm not gonna get kidnapped or anything. Besides, I'm with Thiago anyways."
"I know, I know but it's just me being worrisome."
As always. "So how are you?"
"I'm better. Just can't practice until tomorrow 'cause the docs say so. I was basically on house arrest. I kinda had to sneak away from Lis to come see you." He laughed, mischievously.
In a different circumstance, I would've been overjoyed about his confession. But because I know Lisanna doesn't really like me...
Yeah, I fear for my own damn life.
"Well, better make it quick before she goes home and find you not there."
"Nah, it's Wednesday night. It's dinner's at Elfman's and because I'm sick, I'm off the hook." He laughed. "Go on, ain't you gonna open the door."
"R-right."
Damn now we're just in my studio all alone again. This isn't going to work. I need to get out of this situation somehow.
He's just sitting on the floor, legs crossed, rocking back and forth flashing me a huge adorable smile. For some reason, he's ridiculously handsome. Suddenly, I'm back in a time where feelings weren't complicated between us.
We were just friends chatting in my apartment.
Like good old times.
But how can anyone get a conversation started with him just looking at me like that? If he keeps doing it...I don't think I can trust myself.
