The little doctor dolittle chapter 1 Ariel's special gift

One day when Ariel was hanging out at home her mom told her about the horses that lived in the wild on an island called Chincoteague island. Ariel has always loved horses and has been riding them ever since she was two years old. Later that year they went to Chincoteague island. It was summer time when they went. They were driving around that night but didn't see any horses so they go to the hotel they were staying at. The next morning they got up, got dressed, and had breakfast at the hotel. Then they went to the pen by the McDonald's that was across the road from the hotel. When they were going to get some food for the horses one of them was following them from trough to trough. Then they went to the Chincoteague pony center and Ariel and her mom brought a Chincoteague pony center shirt. The one that Ariel got was pink and the one her mom got was dark green. Then they went onto Assateague island and they were looking at a horse that was eating grass. They were looking through binoculars and Ariel got out of the car and walked towards the horse. "Ariel be careful it might bite you." Serena said through the rolled down window. When she was within six feet of the horse she did a horse snort to say hi to the horse. (Horses snort to say hello.) The horse looked up like it was surprised and snorted back to her twice. That's when her family thought that it was one of those semi-domesicated ones. So they got out of the car and started to walk up to where Ariel was and the horse ran away. That's when they knew that the horse just liked her, not the rest of them. "The horse liked you. It wasn't sure about the rest of us." Serena said. "Yeah, I guess that makes me a horse whisperer." Ariel said. Serena thought that it was just a coincidence but a week later they went to Arlington national cemetery for a funeral for Ariel's uncle. They saw the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown solider. After that they went into the building behind the tomb of the unknown solider and they were looking at all the badges and plaques that her uncle had while he was in the military. Then one of the guards in that building noticed a bird had flown into the building and one of them wanted to throw his coat over it and carry it out of the building. (Good way to bust it's wing, won't be able to fly away.) The bird was at Ariel's feet because her shoes were shiny. "How about you let my daughter have a go at it." Serena said. That's when Ariel noticed that the bird was at her feet. She did her best little bird sound and the bird followed her out of the building and flew away. That's when they knew that she had the gift to talk to animals, just like doctor dolittle.

After summer vacation Ariel wanted to talk to more animals so she decided that it would be good to find some volunteer work somewhere. She found out about this one animal shelter that is twenty minutes away from where she lived and soon enough she went there to drop off some dog and cat food for the dogs and cats at the animal shelter. One thing that she loved about it is that it was a no-kill shelter.
