It all started with marriage, not mine however, My mom's. Well it's the third one, and I'm hoping this one doesn't end like all the last with screaming, insults, crying, and the smell of alcohol lingering weeks after.

This time she says its different because he's a doctor and he's stable. Personally I give it a few months, if she's lucky a year. Normally after the divorce she's starts to drink, even after her six failed attempts to quit. Anyways lets get back to the point, this marriage. It was the same as all the others. Same white dress, same tasteless wine, same "I'm going to love you forever" crap. The same. The only thing that was different was me.

It felt weird. Not because I'm at my moms third wedding and I'm going to get yet another dad. It was weird because I felt different, inside of me. Maybe because I'm forced to go to a new school or maybe because I'm starting a new life in this town, becoming a new person. Or just maybe this wedding was the last one, and he was the one for her. Yeah, like that's it.

After the wedding there was the typical after party. The smell of alcohol and sweaty adult bodies roamed the air. I slowly made my way out of the reception hall and sat outside. The strong wind made it hard to actually move, so I laid down by the wilting palm tree that was on the verge of flying away. I don't remember how long I was out there, or what I even did. But all I remember how peaceful and serene I felt. Besides the fact the wind could have blew me to a different state. The next thing I remember is me waking up in bed looking straight at my mom.

"Hi Honey!" my mom shouted

"Mom, what are you doing? Its 6am." I said trying to clear my vision.

"Oh, you silly, it's your first day at school, Rainbridge!"

"Oh God." I replied as she waved to me signaling to get ready and left my room. I struggled trying to get out of bed, and mentally preparing myself for the day.
