No one told me that it would hurt this bad. No one told me that even the slightest movement would send a tidal wave of pure agony racing through your body. No one told me that it would feel like you were drowning, that as you struggled to bring air into your lungs, thick liquid would fill them up just as quickly. No one told me that your heart could be this audible, that as the straining muscle got weaker the sounds became louder. A reserved murmur evolving into a clamorous drum. That your shallow breaths would only serve as a reminder of what was going to come, that your body began to shake almost like it was trying to wake itself up from a nightmare. That as you tried to blink away the tears, the world only became more muddled. No one told me it would hurt this badly. No one told me that it would hurt to die.
