Ariana's POV
I woke up feeling extremely tired. Staying up last night to finish homework probably wasnt the best idea. Actually... it was. If I don't get straight A's this semester, I dont get my car keys back. And being the only senior taking the bus or walking sucks. Everyone else is driving and I'm on the bus.You see... I am a very school-dedicated person. But lately my grades have been slipping alot so my mom confiscated my keys until the next semester starts. Until then, I will be taking the bus.
Oh joy.
That wasnt the only reason my keys were taken. but i dont like discussing the other reason. the "Bad Grades" excuse is bad enough.
I climbed out of bed and get ready for school, dressing myself in a pair of jeggings and a white sweater and curling my brown hair. I slipped on my black combat boots, shoved all of my books and notebooks from last nights study marathon into my bag, grabbed my phone and went downstairs.
When I got into the kitchen, my mom was sitting at the island eating Greek yogurt and typing away on her sleek black iPhone 5c.
"
Hi mom." I said in a monotone voice. She didnt even look up.love you mom.
"Going into the office early?" I asked, walking to the fridge to find something to eat.
"Mmhm." was my mothers response.
I closed the fridge and opened the top cabinet, pulling out a box of Fruity Pebbles."Can I have my keys back?" I asked, hoping and praying that she would be too immersed in her emails to even hear what I had said and say yes.
"Nice try, Ariana." She said, to my disappointment in a cold voice.
"
Moooooommmmm" i groaned, slamming down my bowl."It's your fault their gone. I dont get why you're blaming me." My mom snapped.
"Couldn't you have just taken my phone?" I cried.
"I tried that last time you were grounded. You took my spare credit card and bought a new one, then tried to hide it. It took me walking down the street after a coffee date with Greg and seeing you texting in the car to take it. Once again, you did this to yourself." My mom said.
I rolled my eyes. My mom was so annoying! I was 18! What parent still grounds their daughter when she is 18?!
The ones whose kids sneak out and get drunk on a school night. that's who. my subconcious reminded me.
I didnt even bother eating my cereal. I just stomped to the door, grabbed my bag and called a goodbye to my bussiness woman mother who didnt have the decency to respond.
I walked to the bus stop for the first time in my life. As i expected there was no one waiting there.
I pulled out my phone and I scrolled went through my contacts until I found my best friend.
me- dude im actually waiting at the bus stop
jenna- are u for real?? want me to pick you up
me- nahh i'll just be grounded longer"BOO!!" came a scream from behind me.
I screamed and jumped so fast and suddenly that my phone flew out of my hands and landed flat on the sidewalk.
I bent down and scooped up my phone, gritting my teeth as I saw several cracks in my phone screen.
"Look what you did!" I yelled. I stopped when I saw just who I was yelling at.
Luke Watson.
