It seems like with the oh so wise words from my Auntie and Uncle are doing some sort of voodoo magic. I've been here not even long enough to get a background check and it seems like I'm already in the dating circle here. All my time in the States and not much luck with finding a gentleman like Jack. Guess I should've packed my bags sooner, am I right? Well, I still don't know much about the man yet, but I have a gut feeling he's good. No, I'd say better than good — amazing seems like a better fit!
When I closed the door behind me though, my Auntie was in the kitchen checking on the lasagna in the oven. It must almost be done, just like I'm done feeling like my face is redder than a tomato. "Ooooooh!!!" Uncle Tom said setting his newspaper on his lap, looking at me, "Somebody's livin' up to their nickname Reeeeed!"
"Ooooooh!!" My Auntie said as I took off my mask embarrassed with the whole family picking at me, "So, dearie, tell us! How'd it go! You've been gone all day now - did he show you his ~baton~?"
"OH GOSH Auntie May, please can't you just please, please, PLEASE spare me this once?" I begged as I walked into the kitchen. The ready of the night was fun and hectic all in one. Being made fun of and trying to hand my hand off to somebody. And now this targeted somebody is Constable Constable according to Auntie May and Uncle Tom. Maybe or maybe not, only time can tell who is right for me, and who I'm right for. Hmmm...the idea of it being Jack is kind of exciting. I mean he's sweet. He's a gentleman. Very respectful...... very strong. Oooooo boy, I can tell already by looking at him, and feeling his arm when I was walking with him. But I still have to pick out an outfit to wear tomorrow! Thankfully Auntie May volunteered herself as my co-coordinator quicker than you could imagine! Which is actually quite fun! I get to spend some more time with her in the day laughing, and poking fun at each other. We didn't plan to take longer than we did last time, but between insulting each other's certain taste in clothes for fun and stories we finally picked something out. With how early we get up in the morning and staying up late were tired and said our good nights and quickly fell asleep. And here I thought I was just about done with getting used to this time zone and I'm still living a completely different one I suppose.
~~~~~~~~~ Constable Constable's POV ~~~~~~~~
"O-Oh, uh, yes! Yes! I - I will! Goodnight!" I said before she gave me one last smile before she walked inside and closed the door.
'Let's try not to mess tomorrow up, shall we?' I thought as I started walking away from the lovely lady's house, thinking about the kiss she gave me like a giddy little school boy. As I got a few steps away and still giddy I brought my hand up to touch the spot that Red had kissed moments ago. For once the smile on my face wasn't from the dredged mask I'm forced to wear - for once it was because I was actually happy. Nothing quite much like Joy, in the sense that Joy is just another mask but for the feelings and that this is far more pleasant than Joy!
"Oi, Constable, wha's got into ya! Ya look like a giddy schoo' girl the way ya walkin'!" Constable Bacon poked walking towards me with one of the other lads.
"Oh bugger off now, will ya!" I told the lads. Then I explained, "If the lot of ya bloody blokes didn't know - and I am rather certain ya ain't in the know - I just dropped off Miss Kaiser home from walkin' wi' me on ma patrol!", which got the buggers riled up a wee bit. They began asking a load of questions like 'Why d' you get to? You're a rather ugly big bugger!' and gradually were a little less insulting. We had a chat for a bit while we were walking on patrol, a little about sweet Miss Kaiser, regular ol' constable related subjects, and other bits and things. The rest of the night went rather smoothly - a rather disruptive citizen out past curfew and another downer.
But I can't help but think that thinking about Red was what helped make the night go by rather quickly. I wonder what all we're going to do and talk about tomorrow? Should I get her some flowers? It is only the second time bring in her company though, I don't want her to see me as a pushy or overbearing person. Hmmm. I ought to ask Mrs O'Donahue! It is her niece after all! That and I do talk with the elderly couple quite often. Tomorrow's Friday, so I'll have a go at it then, we'll both be at the station tomorrow. Friday's Mrs O'Donahue usually always stops in to have a chat with some baked goods or something delicious she's cooked. If she brought her nice with her earlier this week from what Red told me then she might be there with her too! I guess I'll just have to steal Mrs O'Donahue got a quick moment and figure out how to keep the other blokes from stealing Reds attention. It'll all pan out surely enough, I ought not to dwell on it too much. I've still got the rest of this shift to finish now.
