This was the end.
Torrent has now surrounded me completely.

Every crash of it's waves against the landmass I was standing on brought me one step closer to my demise.
I would die in the worst way imaginable, not knowing if my friends survived or not.

The waves crashed and ripped at the floating landmass and ravaged it even more, I couldn't even stand on the ground anymore without the earthquakes sweeping me off my feet.
No one was there anymore, so thankfully I reached my final goal and escorted the majority of the citizens before they experience the same fate as me.
And I'm not lying, it's the loneliest heroic death anyone could follow through.

It didn't take long until I was surrounded by a ring of Torrent, rapidly moving like a circle saw and cornering me from every direction possible.
There was no escape, even if I tried to do my best to face and cope with my mortality.

Yet, hope is the last thing anyone should lose.

"ILESHA!"
"Vasili!"

Approaching from the skies like my personal guardian angel in times of need, there flew a helicopter close to me - steered by Linus, with Vasili, Hana and Piret in the backside.

"Quick, get on!" Piret shouted, unrolling a rope and tying the beginning onto a seat in the helicopter. "We have enough fuel to transport us to the closest city in reach!"
So I didn't have to die, after all.

Grabbing onto the rope as tightly as possible, the helicopter started lifting off.
"Ilesha, you're too heavy! The rope can't take your weight!"
And I knew why - my kangaroo shoes were like cement blocks strapped to my soles. With a heavy heart and my eyes closed, I used my feet to unhinge them as they fell down into the Torrent, completely ripped apart and the debris swept away, never to be seen again.
The last gift I've ever received from my parents was now gone, but I kept my life at least.

The helicopter seemed full, yet it hat some space left to accommodate me. Proudly, I observed Linus steering the helicopter with Vasili by his side who listed him the coordinates of the next city and in which cardinal direction they were situated.
On the backside, I saw Hana and Piret tightly snuggled together, having made some space for me on the bench.

"I'm so glad you all are alive!"
"Of course, dear. We wouldn't let you die here like some kind of barbaric monsters." Vasili said.
"How is Hana doing?"
"She's alright and well" Piret said. "She was waiting for you."

Reeking of sweat and fear, I sat down beneath Hana. Piret was laying her head on my shoulder, for the first time in forever I felt as if my life had a purpose again.

And with that, we flew off into the south, heading towards a future where no environmental disasters would terrorise our kind ever again.
