Chapter 30

Natalie's Point of View

"Atkins," the coach yelled, "pick your team!"

Anxiety took over me as I fiercely chewed my lips attempting to chose the best members of mg football team. I hated being the new kid and choosing teams because I was sure there would be some mad people because they didn't get on the same team with their friends.

I choose a bubbly looking girl and she skipped over with a smile. She introduced herself quickly as Naomi and stood behind me, whispering in my ear each time of who would be a good choice. Once my team had been assembled, it was time to bring home a victory and force the losing team to have to do fifteen minutes of laps.

The first possession off of a coin toss was ours. We stood on one end of the gym with the other team's defense in front on us. Naomi was playing as quarterback since everyone said she could throw and I was on the corner as halfback. She yelled out some play numbers and a hut-hut before flicking the ball to me. I froze for a second but took off down the gym with a touchdown in my mind. I was only a few inches away from the designated touch down area before I got thrown into the side of some bleachers.

Naomi rushed over and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

Naomi pulled me up to my feet and I moved my ankles a bit to make sure I was still alive. My head was throbbing from the hit and I held it as I made my way over to the other side of the gym. I sat down on the front row of bleachers and watched them continue their game.

"No sorry?" I questioned sarcastically to myself.

"Aguilar, take Atkins to the nurse's office."

Naomi linked her arm in mine and walked me happily to the nurse's office. I was issued some ice and told to lay down on the cot for a few minutes since the hit did kind of rock me. Naomi went back to gym and the nurse closed down the office for a few minutes to eat her lunch in the corner. My stomach growled as the sweet smell of her food reached my nostrils and suddenly I thought of the lunch 'date' Toby and I had. I honestly did miss him and thought of texting him, but I wasn't going to do it first. Tony messed things up so it was his responsibility to fix them.

Almost on cue, my phone buzzed notifying me of a text from no other than Toby.

Toby : can we talk after skool today

Nat : for what reason ?

Toby : cause i have something important to tell u

Nat : what is it Toby ?

Toby : I'll tell u later . can we meet or not ?

Nat : where Toby ?

Toby : where we always meet . lunch is on me today .

I placed my phone back in my pocket and tried to clear my thoughts, but my head was raging. This was the first time I would see Toby since we broke up and I honestly didn't know how I would feel. Will the feelings still be there? Will I hate him even more? I couldn't keep focused on school any more, this meeting with Toby was all I could think about.

Author's Note

What could Toby possibly have to talk about? Maybe he's trying to get Natalie back? Maybe he wants to break off connection forever officially? Maybe he just wants to see if she's doing better than he is? What could Toby possibly have to say. Okay, I just thought I would warn you guys that this is chapter 30 and that means Toby has exactly 10 chapters to get his act together. Do you guys think that Toatlie/ Noby will be a couple?
