Once there was an average girl
Always had a bright smile that seemed to light up a room
She was happy but that only lasted a while
When she got older
the world seemed colder to her and all who is in it
yet no one had told her
It would be like this
Her feelings were a wild pendulum
Swinging madly back and forth
With nothing, no one to stop it or lock it into a
Safe place with independant gates
That could block out all the hatred that the world brought
She
Was
Lost
In her own impending thoughts
That weighed her heart down with
Chains of fear
Wounded her with the sharp edge of
Words
And you can't tell her that
"Sticks and stones can break your bones
But words can't hurt you"
Because words have the power to
Tear
Down
Deeper
Than any knife
And leave permanent scars.
Because once that little girl was
Happy
Before the expenditure of the world's hateful
Words
