"Hi mom." Said my sweet son walking into the kitchen. He rubbed his eyes and yawned. I looked up at him and smiled. He was so cute even as a teenager. He looks just like his father it's crazy.

"Hi baby." I kissed his cheek and then pulled away when I felt something scratch my lip. I placed my hands on his cheeks and gasped.

"Oh my god you have facial hair already coming in?!" He was only 16. Naruto didn't get facial hair until he was 19.

"Yes mom. Stop freaking out will ya." He scratched his cheeks and then felt the scar across his eye. I sighed and examined his eye closer.

"Does it feel any better?"

"Yeah much better. Just kinda stings." It's crazy how much things have changed. My husband being gone was the biggest change. After Kawaki our family has been in shambles. We took him into our loving arms and now... now the love of my life is gone.

We were staying in a place hidden in the woods since our village was destroyed. It was small but good enough until I could do something to get back on track. Luckily a lot of our photos were saved. I took those and some of Naruto's belongings. I need something of his to hold onto.

"Thanks for helping me heal up ma. I tried my best ya know." He said looking away.

"Can you take off your shirt please." I asked. I wanted to see his wounds to make sure everything was healing ok. He did as told and winced as he lifted his arms. I removed some of the bandages and frowned. My poor baby.

"Mom I have the supplies" said my daughter walking into the room with the first aid kit. She has been keeping me mentally stable through all of this. The loss of her father had hit her harder than a bus. When I saw her like that I couldn't help but feel even worse. I failed my children. I couldn't keep them safe and Naruto died for us and the people of the leaf. My son almost died for us and here I am sitting in my own tears.

"Ma?" Boruto said snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry honey." I took the first aid kit from Himawari and started with the cleaning process. Boruto winced and groaned at this but it needed to be done.

"Boruto do you need anything else?" Himawari asked.

"No thanks sis. Your a huge help I love you." Boruto gave her a huge smile. The smile that stole my heart. It was the same as Naruto's smile. That handsome and sweet smile. Himawari leaned over and kissed her brothers cheek. It was nice that they were so close with each other. Once I'm gone all they will have is each other.

"Also moms right you should really shave." She said. My son rolled his eyes and then twitched as I placed the cold alcohol pad into his skin.

"It stings." He whined.

"I know I'm almost done. Hold still please." I asked him as I cleaned each individual wound on his upper body. His legs weren't as a mess which was good. I finished up and placed bandages on him and sighed.

"Okay all done. Now you need to go eat something. You look so skinny." I said looking him up and down. He looked like Naruto after the war... when he was just so broken down. Skinny from hunger bruises, wounds you name it.

"Mom please I need you to stop worrying. I'm going to eat." He said while putting his shirt back on and running his fingers through his hair. Himawari came back into the room and pulled her brother aside.

Boruto's POV

"Hey lets all eat together and just relax for today. We are all shaken up I know. I also know you tend to go to hard on yourself. So try and relax. It will make mom feel better. Dad would know just how to calm her down." She said looking away.
