honorary older sister

╰────❀────╮"Sorry, I'm late!" I called as I ran down in the cafeteria to where the drama group was sitting. I carried stacks of playbills in my arms. Jack followed closely behind me, carrying his stack. Jenn put me in charge of picking up the playbills after school. I promised Aunt Jenn I would be back before rehearsals started, but Jack was late picking me up, meaning I was late getting back. "Ah, Bea, and Jack?" She sent me a questioning look as I placed the playbills onto the table beside her. "His school doesn't start again until next week."
"Well, good, he can help with tech rehearsal. We're headed to the El Ray, so pack up!" I groaned as I looked at the stack I had just placed down. "I got it," Ricky said as he grabbed my stack. "Thanks, Ricky"
"So you're Ricky, I've heard lots about you. I'm Jack, Bea's cousin," Ricky turned to me with a smile. "So, you've been telling your family about me?" I rolled my eyes at him before starting to walk away. "Yeah, but who said they were good things?"
The drama club walked into the theater holding their flashlights in front of them. I was on my guard the second I realized we were in the dark. I've seen enough mystery shows on the CW to know nothing good ever comes out of a bunch of teenagers being in a dark room practically screams murder mystery. It didn't help that Jack was there. I knew he would probably try to scare me at least once before we left the theater.
"Right this way, follow me. Smell that smell, the theatre. Mold, it's a sign of life. Everyone, watch your step and let me know if you haven't had a tetanus shot recently, okay?"
I stayed by Ricky as he wandered around the stage. Partly because Jack was nowhere near him, Jack had started flirting with one of the cast members, whose name I didn't know. But I mostly stayed by Ricky because I had a feeling he wouldn't let a Klaus wannabe eat me without a fight, and if Jack decided to scare me, Ricky might get scared with me. It was a win-win situation.
It wasn't long until the lights came on, and I had moved from Ricky's side to a seat in the audience. My fingers moved across my phone screen, quickly typing replies to each next Gina sent me. I paused for a second as I was about to send my text when I suddenly got an idea. I ran onto the stage and whispered my idea to Jenn. "Go; hopefully, we'll survive without you." I wasn't sure what she meant since I haven't been much help to her when it came to theater stuff, but I didn't have time to ask, so I ran up to Jack, interrupting his conversation. "Sorry, but I need a ride" With that, I pulled him away to his car, making him groan in annoyance.
We got to the house pretty quickly. "I'll call you when I need a ride home" I ran jumped out of the car before he could say anything else and rang the doorbell. I smiled when I saw Gina at the door, and before she could say anything, I pulled her into a hug. It took a few seconds before she hugged me back.
When we pulled away, I noticed how heartbroken she looked. Her eyes were red and puffy. Her hair was in a messy bun instead of one of the perfect styles she usually wore. "What are you doing here?"
"You said you missed your friends. So I figured one should stop by"
"Gina who's-" Her mother stopped as she saw me and smiled. "Hi, Ms. Porter. I'm Bea, one of Gina's friends. Would it be okay if we went to get ice cream? We'll be gone for an hour at the longest" Gina looked at me confused, but I didn't look away from her mom and my smile never left. "Yeah, that's fine. Just please be back within an hour"
"Thank you. You ready?" I turned to Gina still smiling. Though she was still confused she nodded. "Alright then, let's go!" I grabbed her hand and pulled her down the steps of her house.
"What are you doing Bea?"
"I already told you. You're moving soon and I haven't had a single hangout with you. So we're hanging out!" I noticed tears coming to Gina's eyes. I had never seen her look so sad. I knew there wasn't much I could do to make her feel better. And I knew that no matter what I did she would still be moving. But I could make her have a fun day with a friend before she left. I figured she didn't get much of those since she moves so often. "Aren't there rehearsals today?"
"Yep it's tech rehearsal but they don't need me for anything so it's fine. Now let's get some ice cream."
"Didn't you say your cousin is still in town?"
"Jack. Yeah he's annoying as hell but he's the only cousin close to my age on both sides of the family. What about you? I know you're an only child but do you have any cousins?" Gina shook her head. "None close to my age. I have a bunch that are 12 and younger. But I'm basically alone" Gina stared at her feet as she walked. I was trying my best to keep her spirts high but I knew it wouldn't be easy. "You're not alone. You have me and Ricky and I can introduce you to my siblings and you can become their honorary older sister." Gina smiled. "I'd like that"
Can you guy's belive that we only have two episodes left until this book is over? That's so crazy to me because I love Bea so much and I really don't want her story to end so soon. I'll probably write a few extra chapters until season two comes out but still it won't be the same. If you guys ever want to read more Ricky Bowen fics check out my other one, 'Adore You'! It'll be pretty different from this one but it'll be a good different!
Thank you for all the reads, comments, and votes on this story! I love you all!
