I know that I have a few requests to work on, but I was randomly inspired to write an angsty one-shot. I have another Todoroki X Reader which should be coming out soon. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this. It is certainly a new style of writing for me!

WARNING: THIS ONE-SHOT CONTAINS DARK THEMES THAT WILL NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL READERS. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF DEPRESSING THINGS MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE.

In an instant, the world was frozen. The room around (Y/N) stood absolutely still. She desperately grasped the remote, watching the same words flash across the screen for each channel she flipped through. It took about two minutes for the quivering of her body to force the remote crashing into the hardwood beneath her.

A sharp clash of the plastic puncturing the ground broke the frail (H/C)-haired girl from her trance. Water forming in her eyes began to spill down her (S/C) cheeks as a sob escaped her mouth.

With a flailing arm and blurry vision, (Y/N) reached for her phone, shakily finding and dialing the only number she knew to. As the tone of the call rung in her ear, she anxiously tugged at the ends of her hair. Seemingly after what seemed like an eternity, the tone ceased and she heard the voice of one of her closest friends on the other side. "(Y/N)-", his voice was quiet and quickly interrupted.

"Shoto, tell me it's not true! Tell me he's not gone!", (Y/N) wildly shouted into the microphone, unknowingly gripping the arm of the couch she rested on with an impetuous clench. The dual-haired male on the opposite end of the phone, stayed silent for a moment, as if choosing his next words carefully. He knew that she would be the one effected by this the most, that she would be the most vulnerable after finding out. She was likely to lash out, but that wasn't her fault. Not everyone got as close as they were.

"I'm sorry, (Y/N-", he began treading as carefully as possible, but that was all the admittance that (Y/N) needed. Without hearing whatever words he had to say next, she hung up. Leaving her ears to be victim to the news that was showcased across her television.

"- that about five hours ago, number one pro hero, Izuku Midoriya, otherwise known as Deku, has been pronounced dead."

Shoto Todoroki's POV:

"I'm sorry, (Y/N-", I began to speak into the phone, trying to answer her gently. Almost immediately as I begin talking, a sound echoes through my ear signalling the end of the call. A frown crosses my lips as I furrow my brow while gazing at my phone.

I let out a frustrated sigh and run my fingers through my already disheveled hair. Worry coursed through my entire body as I realized exactly what this meant. If no one soothed (Y/N) soon, instead of losing one, I will have lost two of the people that are most important to me. Unfortunately she called earlier than I believed she would, giving me less time than I would've had in my own estimation.

"Can you please go a bit faster? It's an emergency." I urge the cab driver, in which I get a vague apology and shrug due to the traffic. My fingertips beat against a shaking knee as my leg bounces with anxiety, an almost numb feeling plunging to my very veins.

Looking out the window, it's obvious that we wouldn't be moving any time soon. "Forget it." Throwing a hundred dollar bill to the front, I rush out of the taxi and begin running towards her apartment.

Narrator POV:

Clutching a pillow to her chest, (Y/N) let her mind overwhelm her. The love of her life was gone in an instant. He promised he'd come back, that it was only one mission. 'I shouldn't have let him take another mission. Then he'd be here with me.', she thought to herself as she sobbed.
