.Peter's pov.

"Tomorrow the sunshine internship exam will take place the top score will be picked as an intern for Stark Industries. But, all of you should be aware that only one high schooler from the whole district gets picked. I recommend you study for this exam as it can very much be one of you who get picked." Mr. Stan my physics teacher smiled at his students.

I felt hope bubbling in my chest for the first time in a while and turned to Ned with an excited smile.

"Dude! A Stark industries internship would be so cool!" Ned eagerly took the application Mr. Stan was passing out and handed one to me.
This would be such an amazing experience! My eyes quickly scanned the application. Wait- I shouldn't get my hopes up there is a lot of intelligent people in the district... I began to get lost in thought.

*Ding Ding* with that school was out.

I rushed out of school. I had to get "home" as soon as possible or else Jermey the orphanage caretaker would get angry and "teach" me another lesson to arrive home on time. I sprinted home and gently opened the door it made a loud creak. I saw one of the younger girls peek at me and smile I smiled back then she rushed back to her room as Jermey walked toward me.

"Crap I'm screwed..." I mumbled to myself nervously as I fidgeted with my hands.

"Indeed you are." Jermey scoffed.
I gazed at the ground and he shoved me in the closet.

"No food for the rest of the week." He spat venom in his eyes as he threw a bottle at my face. My spider senses went haywire as it struck and I stumbled back. Jermey slammed the door leaving me bloodied in the closet.

"Sh-shit..." I rubbed the pieces of glass off my face and looked at myself through my cracked phone. Picking out the glass one by one hurt like hell but it had to be done. I bit my lip letting out to the pain and once I finished I dabbed the blood clean. I'm sure my super healing would cure most of it. I quickly filled out my application and slipped it back in my bag. Then, I laid down on the hard wooden floor eventually falling asleep. I awoke to my alarm

*Beep beep beep* I groaned getting up.
I felt a pounding in my head as I carefully got up. I felt the world spin as I held the wall for support. Slowly I changed into jeans and put on a hoodie. I opened the door and squinted as the light hit my eyes.

"Morning Peter!" Emily squeaked. I cracked a smile and led her to the kitchen. I made the kids breakfast but didn't eat any myself.

Since I was the only one in high school I went on a different bus. Max grabbed my wrist.

"Hey, are you ok? Jermey keeps giving you worse punishments. I can take a couple if you want..." Max smiled gently. I shook my head.

"No, thanks bro I'm fine. Bye, see you later!" I smiled sympathetically. I hopped onto the bus and walked to my seat. Ughh my head is killing me. I looked out the window as the bus came to a sudden stop. I jumped up and walked into Mid  Town Tech. I rushed to my first period my head throbbing and plopped into my chair.

"Hey, Peter!" Ned grinned.

"Hey Ned," I laid my head down on the table.

"You nervous for the internship test?" Ned exclaimed. I nodded.

"Everyone take out a number two pencil and take your scantron for the short response questions answer on three back!" Mr. Stan gleefully passed out the exams.

I scanned through the test and smiled. Heh, that doesn't seem too hard..... I began to scribble down the answers. The easiest question was on synthetic division and dividing monomials. At the end of the test was a section that said surprise me. It took me a while but I wrote down an equation to make the Ironman suit more energy efficient. I was the second one to finish and I gave Mr. Stan my paper. Apparently, the results would come in at the end of the school tomorrow since it's graded digitally, everyone receives an email informing them of their results. The lunch bell rang.
