Freedom of Speech. Ever Heard?
It's the end of Summer, exactly a week before school starts back up and I would do anything right now to not even go. Running away is starting to look like a current idea, a lovely one actually.
Currently, when I should be spending this Sunday up in my room sleeping; I'm babysitting this stupid prick I have of a brother. I'm sorry, I know that was a little too far, especially to be said on a Holy Day but my goodness. My parents left me with the little demon when my mothers water broke early a couple days ago and they won't be back till Friday.
I swear if my new baby brother is like the one I currently have, I'm seriously going to have to run away and change my name permanently or put both brothers up for auction.
"God, mom should've swallowed you when she had the chance."
My eyes almost burst out of my head at the comment my little sixteen year old brother just gave me.
I use my right hand to smack him across the head, "You can't say things like that, Ryder!"
"You're not the boss of me, I can say whatever the hell I want." He crosses his arms over his chest clearly trying to challenge me.
"No you can't you little shit! Mom and Dad specifically said whenever they're gone, I'm in charge. Plus, you're grounded for getting caught stealing, remember?! Therefor, you need to go in your room."
He scoffs, "I'm 16, Reyna. Plus, I have rights in this country and I could've sworn one of them consisted of Freedom Of Speech. Ever heard?"
"That's not how it works!" It's taking everything in me to not push him down the flight of stairs that are just inches away.
"But it works for me." He sneers, bumping my shoulder as he walks past me and into his room.
I roll my eyes, "Ugh!"
I seriously have the worst brother ever. He's the spawn of Satan.
I'm trying my best to be a good babysitter but there's no way when he acts like that.
My parents really thought I could handle this boy but in reality, the only people who can handle him are located at the zoo and a vet. Until then, he's a lost cause.
I can hear his loud video games from his room, of course he's gonna blast it to irritate me even more. He has a few more chances before I'm forced to call the US Military to come and collect him along with his belongings.
Ring, ring, ring.
"Hello?" I answer the call of my bestfriend.
"Please let me come over.. my parents are arguing again." She sighs.
My poor bestfriend, she doesn't deserve to be around that toxicity.
"Of course, doors unlocked for you!"
"Thank you, I'll be over in ten." She hangs up.
It doesn't take long for her to just burst through the door instead of knocking. Yes, she has the privilege but at the same time what if it was some crazy serial killer instead? The things I do for her.
