Heya...
One of the things I have realized (a lot more now) is that writers are having a harder time to try and describe what is happening
For starters, put attention to the details. I am being completely honest when I say that a lot of these stories could use more specific observations.

For example:
When I arrived at the coffee shop, I went to the counter to get a peppermint mocha.Instead of:
I walked up to the entrance of the small-town coffee shop. When I opened the door, a small bell sounded. Surprisingly, the coffee shop was fairly large. It didn't seem too small, but there wasn't unused room. The cafe was filled with metal chairs and wooden tables. It provided that indie feel. The counter to order your drinks at was long.Because it was so early in the morning, there weren't many people around. I could see a woman about 30 years-old, from the looks of it she was on her way to work. With her formal clothing and mid length straight hair. The barista was this girl, not much older than 18 working quickly while making this woman's drink. The barista looked adorable with her dyed hair tied back to two short ponytails and cute bangs in the front. From the looks of it, this coffee shop didn't have a uniform for their employees because she was wearing lined flannel and ripped jeans. She had an apron on (of course) but her outfit made the coffee shop look welcoming.
—————-Focus on the small details of the setting you are in. Before your character enters any place, set the scene.
Who is there? What are they wearing? What about their outfit or facial expression makes the character feel a certain way?
What does the place look like? What emotions are brought to the character from this? Does the setting remind the character of a relationship?
What does it smell like? Any sounds?
In a lot of books, a character will be tired from staying up. But when you haven't gotten sleep in two days, how does your body feel? How does someone emotionally feel when they are tired? How to express that?
Overall, when you are outside, try to notice the small things.
Have a fantastic evening or day!
