Chapter 14
Clawbark had brought Jadepaw and Drizzlepaw back exhausted, along with a chipmunk that Clawbark had caught and a bird that Jadepaw and Drizzlepaw had caught. Well, mostly Jadepaw. Drizzlepaw had frightened the bird, causing it to practically fly right into Jadepaw. So, the bird caught itself.

Now it lay limp in Drizzlepaw's jaws, its sad feathered wings drooped and pointed towards the ground. Drizzlepaw puffed out his chest proudly as he carried it into camp; Jadepaw wouldn't tell any cat that it had been a team effort since it appeared to be very important to him.

Clawbark, on the contrary, was an extremely skilled hunter with the grace of a WindClan warrior. For such a large and muscular cat, he seemed to have bird bones. Clawbark also had his chest puffed out, and he raised an eyebrow at Twitchheart, who let out a small giggle and whisked her tail on the ground next to her.

Clawbark dropped the chipmunk onto the fresh-kill pile, trading it in for shrew. He hurried over to Twitchheart and licked her ear as he sat down. Jadepaw went over to it for a meal, maybe the chipmunk. She could share with Cloudpaw and Drizzlepaw. Maybe Clearpaw. Goldenpaw sprinted in front of Jadepaw dramatically, snatching the chipmunk off the top of the pile.

Jadepaw glared at Goldenpaw's back. Her gaze followed Goldenpaw as she sat down, her back pressing against the face of Highrock. Jadepaw didn't think Goldenpaw was supposed to be next to Highrock, well, on Highrock, when Clan meetings weren't taking place.

Let her get in trouble, she deserves it. Jadepaw took a mouse instead and began to head in Clearpaw's direction. She veered away when he settled next to Sparkpaw. In the next few moments, a series of questioning looks came from Clearpaw, who was obviously listening to some crazy story of Sparkpaw's that twisted her into a villain.

"Drizzlepaw, can we talk?" Drizzlepaw sat down without question, his bird flopping onto the ground with him. "Clawbark always does stuff like this. The one warrior except for dad that doesn't seem bothered by my name is the one who is the most obsessed with hunting." Drizzlepaw let out a small chuckle.

"But he is really nice, and I'm glad to have him as my mentor." Jadepaw gave Drizzlepaw a respectable few moments for him to decide if he was done talking or not. "Drizzlepaw, no questions until the end." Drizzlepaw gave Jadepaw a small frown but said nothing.

"So me and Sparkpaw were battle training when she asked for a play-fight or something. I beat her, even though she was twice my size, and Lightningstrike was impressed and kept on carrying on about my fighting skills until the end of training. After that, Sparkpaw approached me and said 'how could you?' And I asked how could I what, and guess what she said?"

Drizzlepaw shrugged his shoulders and looked up at her from his prey. "She said how could I beat her, and I said I was born good at fighting-" Drizzlepaw made a low whistling sound with his teeth. "And she got all mad, and somehow, the subject turned to mothers, and she said, and I quote, 'Frostfang is a better mom than Dewstorm ever would have!'"

Drizzlepaw's eyes had been elsewhere, but now his attention was back to Jadepaw. "That's horrible! And sorry, it's just how Clearpaw's looking at you..." Jadepaw whipped around to see Clearpaw staring at her accusingly before he turned his whole head in a different direction.

Jadepaw couldn't believe that he had believed Sparkpaw! Jadepaw glared back at Clearpaw, but never could manage to catch his eye. The Clan wasn't very busy, considering the huge amount of cats in it. Creamcall was playing with her kits. Beechkit was a gray tom with green eyes, just like his two other littermates.

Creamcall had had two she-kits. One named Rufflekit, an orange and extremely fluffy kit. The other was named Dewkit, which made Jadepaw's heart swell. Dewkit had a brown pelt with one white paw. "Take.....THIS!" Rufflekit lunged at Beechkit, sending him careening onto the ground.
