The Basement

Still puzzled on how nobody noticed that- that thing, I walked to the bathroom, but right at the basement hatch that, funnily enough, was open, I was shoved right into it. Luckily I landed legs first rather than headfirst.

It's pitch black in here, I take my lighter out of my pocket, but before I even attempted to light it, a circle of candles lit, and I realised I was right in the center of a pentagram, and it wouldn't let me step out. I was now part of a ritual of some sorts. Then I see IT. That thing that chased me down the hallway and vanished. He chants something which is incomprehensible an- "AGH! It burns!" I hear somebody scream, I look around to find another person trapped in a ritual next to me. He fades to dust as some sort of gray essence is left in the air where he stood. Once again IT chants something as that essence transfers into myself and the barrier around the pentagram dissapears along with IT, leaving a note in its place. The note reads "Death, is a small price to pay for true power" I notice something different about my hands, they have a grey mist coming off them, I go to pick my lighter up a-and it just comes to me! What has that thing done to me?
