-Zoe-

I attack the punching bag in the training arena of my gangs headquarters, when I hear an announcement. It's pretty great having headquarters in an old school because one - lots of rooms, two - big rooms like what used to be the gym and cafeteria, and three - loud speakers throughout all the school.

"Attention - Cara Pollard was seen in headquarters a few days ago, then another spy for the mirror pistols was seen just now. This is an obvious message from them and in 15 hours at dusk, we will attack their gang. Be warned."

I stop punching the bag and just stare at it. They are going to attack Cara's gang. I need to tell Cara. I pick up my phone and call her.

"Zoe..." her voice sounds through, "it's 2:00 AM what do you want." She yawns.
"Zoe you need to protect yourself." I state.
"What? Why? Is everything okay?" She sounds more awake now.
"Just meet me outside your house in a few minutes with enough cloths for a few days." I say.
"Wait- what's-" she starts talking but I hang up.

I run to my room and start packing my stuff when I hear a knock on my door.
"Who is it!" I say and point a pistol at my door. Rachel's bursts through and immediately falls back at the sight of my pistol.
"Oh Rachel, sorry." I say while putting the pistol away.
"Jeez! I came here to make sure you weren't with Cara." She explains.
"I'm actually going to get her right now." I say while stuffing cloths into my bag. Rachel walks over to me and look at my bag.
"Are you... are you leaving?" She asks.
"Yeah," I say and turn to her. She has a confused look on her face. "Everything good?" I ask. She just walks over to me and stares up at me. "Rache?" I say cautiously. She wraps her arms around me in a hug.
"Promise you'll come back though right." She asks.
"Yeah, of course." I say confused. She just smiles with teary eyes.

"You okay?" I ask her. She hugs wipes away some tears and nods.
"Yeah, no, yeah, I'm totally fine." She says while walking out of my room.
"See you soon." I call to her. She just pauses in my doorway.
"Bye." She says. Somethings wrong but I don't have time to deal with that right now, my and Cara need to get as far away from here as possible.

I pull up to Cara's mansion and wait outside. A few minutes later she rushes out with a duffel bag and gets into my car.
"What's going on?" She asks nervously. If I tell her she won't want to leave with me. I just shake my head and start driving.
"Wait, what! You can't just do that! Zoe you need to tell me. I'm worried!" She protests. Again I just shake my head and she gets frustrated. She starts making a fuss in the passengers seat and tells me to pull over. I keep driving and driving. I need to get her far enough away so that she won't make it back in enough time to get involved.
"Zoe! Stop the fucking car and tell me what's going on!" She screams at me.
"I can't." I say.
"Why!" She demands and answer.
"You won't let me take you to a safe place." I say. This just makes her more mad.
"Zoe! You're being a bitch! What the fuck! Your acting like a shit bag! Just tell me!" She screams at me. My chest tightens up and I feel like throwing up. I end up pulling over the car right before we got on the high-way.

I turn to Cara and stare her right in the eyes.
"If I tell you, you have to promise not to go back until it's safe." Cara studies me for awhile then finally speaks.
"Fine." She agrees. I take a deep breath and tell her.
"My gang is going to attack your gang, they saw you at headquarters and thought it was a threat. I needed to get you to a safe place." Cara looks at me with eyes full of rage. She opens her mouth but then closes it. She turns around and looks out the window. I continue driving and get onto the highway.

Cara has been silent the whole hour drive. I took her to a small motel very far away from LA. I park in the parking lot and look over to her.
"Cara?" I call cautiously. She looks at me with tear stained eyes. She then gets out of the car and walks into our room without saying a word. I am quick to follow her.

I drop our bags in the corner of the room and sit on the bed next to Cara.
"Couch." She says. I look at her confused.
"What?" I ask.
"Couch." She repeats. I then get what she's saying. I get up and move to the couch in the room, I lay down stare at the wall. Cara has some blankets on her bed and I'm cold, but I feel like anything could cause her to snap, so I just keep staring at my wall. It reminds me of when I was in the hostage room with that flickering light, thinking about that light was the only thing that kept me sane and the only thing that kept me from my chest tightening up.

Now I just stare at my little patch of wall. I pull my jacket off and use it as a blanket.

I wake up at 3 AM to Cara calling my name.
"Yes love?" I respond still half asleep.
"Come here." She says. I'm too tired to argue or question her so I just do as I'm told. I walk over to the side of the bed, still rubbing my eyes. Again, I look down to see her tear stained face. I grabs my hand and pulls me beside her. I get under the covers relieved I won't freeze to death. I then feel Cara's arms wrap around my waist, then a little while after that I hear soft snoring.
