Chapter one:

I glared at my dad as we went through customs to board our flight. He just ignored me though.

I didn't get any time to talk to him on the plane because he stuck in headphones and pretended like he was asleep.

I mean really?

Flour hours later we landed in Arizona and as soon as I got off that plane I started sweating like a whore in church. My dad grabbed my bags and we walked into the lobby looking for someone holding up a sign that said Paul and Victoria Maddox. We walked towards him and he grabbed my things than led us out to a car.

"It's a 20 minute drive." the guy said in a thick accent. There wasn't a sound in the car as we drove to my new school. He dropped us off and my dad grabbed my things as we made our walk to my school.

I noticed how everyone stared at me. And usually I would flip them off, but I just had an uneasy feeling.

This school was pretty small just two buildings with two stories each. The main building held all of the class rooms and the second building was where the dorms were.

My dad signed us in and we sat in ugly orange seats. I pulled out my black fingernail polish and even though my dad scolded me I didn't listen.

"Mr. Maddox!" a high pitched voice said. I looked up and this woman was plump and she was in all pink and her messy blonde hair was piled on the top of her head.

"Kari." he said giving her a nod. She smiled and motioned us to follow her. She opened a wooden door for us. "Mike will be with you in a moment." she said giving my dad a charming smile then left.

"Who the hell was that?"

"She was in my graduating class when I was here."

"Hold up! You went here?"

"Yes, I told you I did."

"Hmm... I must have tuned you out." I said pulling out my nail polished and finished painted my other fingernails.

Two coats later and painting my toe nails the Mike person finally walked in. My dad stood up and shook his hand.

"It's nice to see you again Paul." Mike said.

"You must be Victoria." he said.

"Yes, but you can call me Tori."

He smiled and stuck out his hand. "My name is Mike Berry, but you can call me Mr. Berry."

"Nice to meet you." I lied.

"Okay, so I have been told you have moved around quite a bit for doing things, but you set a forest on fire? We need to help you control these powers of yours." he said tapping his chin while reading my thick folded. "You look exactly alike your mother." he said. Which is not true at all. I may have looked like her a year ago, but my once naturally blonde hair is dyed dark now, and I have my fathers green eyes not my moms blue. But I just gave him a small smile.

Mr. Berry and my dad talked for at least half an hour they were just catching up.

"I'm sorry to hear about Abby. She was such a sweet and smart person." he said. Yeah my mom went here to. "I'll let you two get Tori's things than... I'm sure you still remember how to get around here."

"Yes, sir I do." my dad said he shook his hand and led me out of the office door. We grabbed my room key, student ID, locker number, and schedule.

We made out way to the next building and people were still staring at us. I bent my head wishing I would have worn it down instead of in a sloppy ponytail so I could hide my face.

My dad unlocked the door. The room was a pretty good size. It had two twin beds, two desks, and two small dressers.

"Get to unpacking." my dad said.

I looked over at my roommates bed and it was decked out in dark purple and blue. She had tons of pictures taped to the wall.

I made my bed. Putting turquoise blue sheets on it than a turquoise and black comforter over the sheets and the only picture I had was of me in the middle of my parents taken last year we were smiling like idiots. And my hair was blonde still. I put my clothes in my dresser. Even though we have to wear uniforms I still brought enough to where I had to stuff it.

The only good thing about the uniforms is that we can accessorize them and we could wear whatever shoes we wanted.

"I have to get going kiddo, but I-" he started saying then got cut off by a girl slamming the door open. She had long dark hair and blue eyes. I knew she was my roommate from the picture. She looked at me then my dad. When she looked at him her eyes got wide.

"Holy crap! You're Paul Maddox." she said. How the hell does she know him?

He rubbed the back of his neck which means hes nervous. "Um yeah. This is my daughter Tori. She's your roommate."

"Shut up! I get to room with Paul Maddox's daughter."

"Um can someone tell me what's going on?"

"I got to run, but I love you and I'll keep in touch." he said then kissed me on the forehead and left my roommate and I alone.

She gave me a huge smile. "My name is Reagan. And your Tori. What's your element?" she asked.

"I'm not really for sure. I think I have more than one."

"Well it wouldn't surprise me since your father has the element of fire and your mother has the element of water. How cute it's opposite." she said smiling.

"I'm confused about my dad? Why are you do gaga over him?" I asked. This girl knew more about my parents than me.

"Your parents are freaking awesome. Like they were the most powerful two at this school and no one else has beat them. It's crazy!" she said flopping on her bed.

I can see my dad being powerful, but my mom? No, she was way to sweet.
