Why we have to smile at people we pass in the street makes no sense to me.
We're not happy to see them, and in a minute or two, we'll have moved on.
Forgotten, almost.
Maybe they'll reappear in your dreams as faceless people, and when you wake up, you don't even remember it was that person you smiled at in passing.
Why we clap after a performance I do not know.
Compliments from words make sense, but a compliment from clapping is confusing.
It is childish, and doesn't show your true appreciation.
Why do we feel obligated to do these things?
Maybe it's because everyone else does them. It's what we're used to, but that shouldn't be why we do something.
Things shouldn't be done because we feel obligated to do them.
They should be done with thought because then they actually mean something.
Enjoy?
