Chapter 1
Birth in the country of snow

I remember when I was born. I opened my eyes for the first time, and the only thing I could see was a white void. After what felt like a few dozen seconds, I could make out different shades of white in round shapes slowly falling in front of my eyes. I had to blink my eyes a few times as I started to feel a slight bit of pain in my head. Afterwards, I could see that the texture of the balls was covering the ground beneath me. I could make out different shapes. After seeing nothing but whiteness, I gained a vision that could see buildings all around me with a myriad of colors, with their roofs covered by the soft frozen water droplets that fell out of the sky, they covered to rooftops in white.

I couldn't hear for the first few minutes, but as my sight got better, I could pick up a sound. The first sound I heard was of laughter. I looked to my left and saw people laughing as they looked inside the window of a building. I noticed then that people were walking all over the place. They seemed happy. All of them had a family with kids and elderly walking around, enjoying themselves. I started to see clearly. I was in a winter wonderland. A colorful fantastical city covered in snow, round buildings as if they were made for kids.

further from me was a huge white palace with four roofs of different heights, all but one was colored pink, the odd one out was yellow. I could see so many snowflakes falling, twirling around in the sky. Even though I felt cold, and I could feel no presence of any person around me, I ignored it, for the sight of the palace and dancing snow was too pretty for someone like me, who was just born.

After standing their gazing at the palace for a while, I got a sudden realization that confused me. With a worried face, my vision was turning and looking at every spot near me as I turned and twisted, trying to understand my situation. Alas, I knew nothing, so I could understand nothing. I didn't know where I was, nor did I really have an understanding of who I am. At one point I stopped and stood still, figuring it was pointless to panic. I looked at my hand, and I could see it was the same as all the other people around me. And like most people I saw, it was a hand with pale-white skin.
I grabbed the thick cloth of the coat I was wearing with my thumb and index finger and raised it a slight bit. I was wearing a black coat with red frails underneath. I noticed there was what some would describe as 'poof balls' attached to my coat, and they were colored red too.

The rest of my coat had dark blue and red accents with a frilled dark blue center that had six silver buttons on it. I brushed the hair I could feel on my left cheek and held a bit of it in front of my eyes so I could examine it. I could see that my hair was brown. I walked over to one of the windows to see a reflection of myself. My eyes were colored blue, the color of my eyes was a little dull. I seemed to also wear an overall, although I didn't bother looking at what it looked like underneath my coat, I only saw that I was wearing something on my legs with a separate color for each leg. The clothing on my left leg was colored red, whilst my other leg was dark blue. Other than that, I wore black Geta. Why I wore those wooden shoes in a snow land, I still don't know yet. But this is what I looked like, and with the confirmation that I had an appearance, I started to roam this nation where fantasy may become reality.

I kept walking and walking, over the white path surrounded by colorful and whimsical buildings. I noticed people my size laughing and smiling around humans that were about two-to-three times as big as me. I was feeling lonelier every step. Where is my big human that holds my hand and smiles at me? Why don't I have a friend to talk to? No one paid any attention to me, some passed me by as if I weren't even there. When wondering around for the first few days, my feelings of amazement at all the pretty sites were fading, and the feeling of cold replaced it. The air I breath was cold. It was hard to smell anything as the cold air appeared to make that difficult. I thought I at least had the pretty colors from the buildings to look at, but then the first snowstorm day came my way. The pretty colors got obscured by the vicious winds that blew millions of snowflakes all around me. It felt as if I was in a grey cloud, I couldn't see much. I felt like I was going to freeze, I held arms over myself as I marched through the snow.
