I was lying on my bed, when suddenly, my phone vibrated.

I had gotten a text saying:

Just got off work. Coming home now :) See u in a few Am!

I jumped out of my bed, running downstairs. I opened the door, walking quickly to the bench on the porch.

I sat quietly-I never talk much-listening to the sounds of other kids laughing, dogs barking, cars pulling up. But, the car pulling up sounded really close...

"Amber!" someone shouted happily.

I looked up, a wide grin forming on my face. "Caspar!"

I ran to him, embracing him in a giant hug that seemed like it lasted forever.

"How are you?" he asked sincerely, turning around and quickly shutting his car door, then turning back to me.

"Good, you?" I answered, my voice dragging with my thick South African accent.

"Fine." He shrugged. "What have you been doing while I was gone?"

"Eh, the usual. Studying for our new school when it starts, writing essays for our old school, doing other work. What else?" I said casually.

He groaned, throwing his head back. "Why are you such a nerd?"

"I don't know, maybe I want to be smart. Unlike you." I scoffed.

Caspar rolled his eyes. "Whatever." He thought for a second. "You should really call Zoe. She isn't going to be able to see you for a while, you know, because of the..."

"Move. When we moved, yeah." I said quickly, a lump forming in my throat.

"You can call her over now. Mum texted me and told me to come over to her house, so you have our house to yourself for however long it takes her."

"Why did you come here, then?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"I wanted to tell you 'hi.'" He smiled warmly.

"Aw, that's sweet." I practically purred. I'm glad me and him never fight. We share a house, so... Yeah I'm glad we don't fight.

"Bye Amber!"

"Bye Casp!" I called back to him, right before his car drove away.

I sighed, walking into the house. I jogged to my room, looking around. Then, I started singing. My hobby.

I sang the choruses of many songs, smiling when I sang my favorite, All Of Me by John Legend.

While I sing, I walk through the large house me and Caspar shared, running my hand over the walls as I passed them.

(Here is a quick house tour, so you know what I'm talking about when I say "the studio" and the "party room."

When you walk in, you are standing in the front room. The front room has all beige walls, with couches spread widely among the walls and floor. There are some fish tanks built into the walls, one full of a bunch of zebra fish and tiny sharks-mine-and one full of goldfish and some kind of beta fish I didn't know the name of-Caspar's.

The door leading out of the room has two hallways. If you go left, it leads you to the living room-a large room with a giant flat screen T.V. with around-sound and a balcony hanging over it. It also includes the back door that leads out to a medium sized back yard that has a few swings, and a small garden we hire someone to tend to. If you go up the stairs-the one right next to the L-shaped, giant, leather couch-it will lead up to my room and the studio.
