Chapter One

The weekend came faster than I thought it would.

I sat in my small black Toyota Prius, bobbing my head to One Direction and All Time Low.

When I got to the mall, I saw Zoey's blood-red mustang parked near Forever 21.

As I pulled up beside her, I saw that she had Midnight Memories by One Direction turned up all the way, and she was dancing like crazy.

"I see you're still obsessed with that band." I smirked as she turned her head, her cheeks reddening.

"Well, yeah they're awesome." She said, laughing nervously.

"Oh just give me a hug already!" I laughed, smiling warmly.

Zoe jumped out of the car and ran over to my side. I got out and practically jumped on her.

"I missed you so much!" I sobbed, tears welling up in my eyes.

"Me too, Am." She whispered, crying herself.

We sat there, our arms wrapped tightly around one another in an embrace.

"So," I started, wiping a tear from under my eye, "Let's get this thing started, shall we?"

"We shall." Zoe giggled, making a proper British accent.

We linked arms and skipped to Forever 21, singing, "We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Forever 21."

When we reached the door, Zoe gasped and ran inside.

"THERE'S A SALE!!" she screeched, looking around like the clothes were pieces of meat.

"Shhh! You're going to get us kicked out!" I said worriedly, the customers staring at us.

She sighed as I gave her a "look."

"I haven't been shopping in a week, Amber. A whole week! How am I supposed to keep calm?" she stated matter-of-factly.

"Okay, okay." I said, putting my hands up in surrender.

"Let's find party clothes, makeup, and hair accessories first, kay?" she asked-well, more like commanded.

I nodded, following her around the store. She held up different dresses, pants, skirts, and shirts and I either nodded or shook my head.

Finally, it was time to try it all on and we headed to the dressing rooms.

I tried on everything, and we ended up getting three dresses, 5 loose-fit shirts with tank tops, 2 pairs of skinny jeans, and 2 skirts.

The first dress was red, and ended about mid-thigh. It was tight-not too tight-and showed in all the right places.

The next dress was a mix of blue and teal, and was tight too. But, when the dress reached a little before my knees, it flowed out in layers.

The last dress was my favorite, and I absolutely loved it. It was a dark, royal purple and only had one strap. It was ruffled, and stopped about mid-thigh. I can't really explain it more, but it was amazing!

We bought some black pumps that went with all of my outfits, and set out to find more things.

Zoe looked at me and sternly said, "Now it's time for school clothes."

"Okay!" I said excitedly.

The stern look disappeared from her face, and she smiled. "Sorry, I get serious when it comes to clothes."

"I've noticed." I laughed, grinning.

She rolled her eyes and took me into a store that I didn't know the name of.
