Lord Voldemort walked through the Potter's house with one mission: kill the Potter Boy. Kill anyone that gets in his way. He could hear the baby crying from downstairs. He climbed the stairs up to the Potter Boy's room. When opened the door, he found the baby in his crib. He crept closer, and closer until...
"HARRY!" Harry woke up from his nap. The latest Dailey Prophet open on his lap. Hedwig perched up on her cage trying to spot a mouse. "Harry!" his mum called him again. "Come into the kitchen!"
"Coming, Mum!" Harry sat up and stretched. He walked over to the kitchen to find his mom hurriedly stirring cake mix. "Mum? Why don't you use your wand to so that?"
"Oh, Harry" Lily, his mum, sighed. "We don't need to use magic for everything. When you get your wand you'll understand. Besides, it doesn't taste the same if it's not made by hand." Lily winked.
Harry stuck his finger into the icing container and chuckles, "Is this where you tell me that it's 'made with love'?" Lily gave him a face. Harry rolled his eyes playfully and said, "I like them better this way." Lily smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "What'd you need?"
"Your dad and Sirius should be coming home soon. Will you please set the table for dinner?"
Harry nodded and walked into the dining room. By the time he finished, his dad and godfather, Sirius, walked through the front door with another man. "Hi, dad!" Harry smiled. James opened his arms wide and ran to Harry.
Sirius leaned on the wall next to himself asking, "Do I get a hug?" He picked up Harry, sup him around, and hugged him. "Look at you! You look taller!"
"And your beard looks longer! Is your dog hair longer?" Sirius turned into a dog and shook his hair. Harry laughed and Sirius changed back.
"James!" Lily called from the kitchen. "Will you help me put the food on the table?" James respond, "Coming, Darling!" and walked into the kitchen. As they set the food down, Harry sat down. Sirius guided the other man into a spare chair. Harry observed him. Red hair. Freckles. The sweater he wore underneath his coat looked hand-made. Sirius nudged Harry and whispered, "That's Mr. Weasley. He works at the Ministry but he's an old friend of ours."
Harry nodded and whispered, "He looks a bit familiar.."
"His family is famous fro their size and red hair. He has a son that's your age named Ron. You might've seen him around."
Lily gave Mr. Weasley her warm smile. "How's the family, Arthur? I haven't gotten a letter from Molly in so long."
"Molly's been busy with Ginny. She's been hanging around Fred and George waaaaayyyyy too much. How's Reigna? I notice she isn't with us..."
"She's upstairs taking a nap. I don't know how Molly managed so many toddlers! I mean Reigna wants eat, then, sleep, then cry, then sleep, then eat, then, cry... There's no pattern to her moods!"
"Molly's got years of experience on you, Lily." Sirius commented.
Mr. Weasley added, "That, and a book on child care by Lockheart..." which made all of them laugh except Harry.
"I don't get it..." Harry admitted.
"Some people," James explained, "Like your mum and I, don't believe that Lockheart is as talented as his books say he is." Harry nodded.
"Harry," Mr. Weasley said, "I hear you're turning 11 soon." Harry nodded. "My son Ron is already 11 and got his Hogwarts letter. Maybe you two can meet up at Diagon Alley once you get your letter." Harry smiled and said, "That sounds great, sir." Mr. Weasley smiled back and turned to Lily. "How is your Muggle family? Petunia is your sister, yes?"
"Yes. And she's doing well. Her son Dudley turned 11 a few weeks ago. And her husband Vernon got a job promotion."
"Wonderful! Do job promotions work the same in the Muggle World as they do in our world?"
"Yes."
"Fascinating!"
They talked and ate for another hour and then Harry went off to bed. He stopped by his sister, Reigna's room to kiss her goodnight. She was asleep in her crib with her blanket in disarray. He fixed the blanket and blew he a kiss. "'Night, Rey-rey..." He changed into his pajamas and turned off the lights. Instead of hopping into bed, he sat on his window sill staring out the window. Hedwig flew down to meet him. He stroked her feathers as he pondered what it would be like to live at Hogwarts...
