Rosalinda's POV:
I woke up the next morning to Flora jumping up and down on my bed. "Rosa wake up wake up wake up!" She shouted. "Miles is here!" She happily yelped, "come meet him!" She yanked me up and I smiled. "Hold on let me get ready." I smiled at the adorable girl. "Can I pick an outfit?" She gave me puppy dog eyes and I sighed. "Of course." I smiled and she ran over to my closet. "Ooh." She said and tip toed trying to reach my overall dress.
"Need some help?" I help back a little laugh. "Yes please." She said sighing. I let a small chuckle out and grabbed it. "The striped sweater too!" She said and grabbed a pair of shoes. I grabbed my striped turtle neck and she smiled grabbing it all from me laying it out on my bed. "Perfect! Oh no, wait." She rushed over to my drawers. "Do you have jew-la-ree?" She asked and I smiled at how adorable she was trying to see it. "Jewelry, top left drawer." I said and watched her repeat the word a few times as she rummaged through my little collection. She set out some earrings and my charm bracelet. "Your necklace goes perfect too!" She beamed up at me. "Thank you, I'll be out in a second okay?" I smiled and she nodded hurrying out. "Don't be long! Miles is waiting!" She exclaimed and hurriedly shut my door. I smiled shaking my head, what a cutie.
I put on the outfit only adding undergarments and socks because the kid had good taste. I'd actually wear this, maybe not the best for my first day actually working at work. This is work now....
I put a little hairspray in my hair coming the wavy curls, putting them up in a decent ponytail. I slid on my glasses grabbing my bag of work books and school supplies. "Ready?" I asked the munchkin sitting in the hallway. "You look perfect!" She smiled hugging my leg. "You look perfect-er!" I joked and picked the cutie up. She bust out into giggles and I carried her down the stairs. "You have honey eyes like my mommy." She said with a sort of sad smile. "You have chocolate eyes like brownies, I could eat you all up." I joked fake biting her as I tickled her. She bust out into giggles as I did so. A loud cough came and I looked to see Mrs. Grose, "I prepared breakfast. It's getting cold." She said with an unhappy look on her face. I set Flora down, "sorry ma'am. She was waiting for me." I said not wanting her to be upset with Flora. "Go eat Flora." She said and Flora rushed off. "Miles is here, for the time being you'll have to tutor him too occasionally. When you're done with Flora of course. You'll be paid for the troubles." She said scanning me up and down with judging eyes. I know to her I must be dressed like a complete slut. "You look nice." She said and rushed off leaving me surprised. Maybe this woman isn't so bad. I walked over to the art room setting the work down in there before heading to the dining room. "Miles, this is Rosa-." Little Flora was cut off by him. "I know." He said seeming, unamused. "We met last night." I explained with a small smile to her. "Oh." Was all she said as she continued to eat. "So Miles, how far are you into school?" I asked and he shrugged ignoring me as he drank what I assumed to be tea. He looked nice in less formal wear, that prep school uniform was nice, but this sweater and baggy jeans left me in awe. However he had the attitude of a high school girl. I bit my tongue a bit not wanting to say anything. "Miles is on break for the time being." Mrs. Grose said as she set down a muffin and coffee in front of me. "Thank you." I smiled and she simply nodded. The phone began ringing and she shook her head. "Rosalinda could you take that? I have to wash up darling." She said and I nodded, "of course." I rushed over to the kitchen grabbing the phone. Miles watching me intensely. I glanced at him confused. "Hello Fairchild residence." I said firmly.
I listened to the man tell me about Miles expulsion and his assault on another teenager. My eyes widened a bit as I glanced at Miles but ignored it and tried to seem normal. "Okay thanks for letting us know. Yeah, you too. Bye." I said and hung up the phone. I sat back down and he stared at me waiting for me to speak almost. "Who was it?" Mrs. Grose said as I bit into my muffin.
I took a moment to chew before covering my mouth with one hand. "Miles' school, just the work he needs to do still. I told them I'd take care of it." I lied, I don't know why I did. I glanced over to see a smirk on his face as he set his cup down. "Well, thank you." Was all she said before sitting down next to me, eating. Miles got up to leave and I looked confused at his plates. Was he going to just, leave them? "Hey, uhm Miles. Your plate." I said trying to be polite about it. "Yeah, I'm done." He said and continued to walk off. "You're not going to at least put it in the sink?" I questioned and he turned with an annoyed look. "Not my job." He said glaring at me. "Mrs. Grose looks after you both and this entire house, the least you could do is pick up after yourself." I said getting irritated. This spoiled fucking brat. "I don't get paid for it." He said and stormed off. "Come on Flora!" He said and she grabbed her plate. "Don't! It's not your job either." He demanded and she set it back down hurrying away. "Sorry." She said hugging me before running after him.
"They were born into privilege Rosalinda. You need to understand that." She said and I was confused. Was she upset with me for trying to defend her. "Thank you, I understand your concern, but those kids weren't raised like you and I." She said before grabbing the plates. I decided to help her.
Once I finished drying the last dish I went to the art room where Flora and him both were. He was throwing a ball at the wall over and over as she colored in the middle of the room on a big piece of paper.
"Ready Flora?" I asked with a small smile as I passed by Miles ignoring the snobby brat. "Yeah." She cheerfully said. "Good." I said grabbing my bags sitting at the large desk. "Let's get started." I gave her a pencil as we began with basic English work. She knew quite a bit so it was like review for her. The only new thing I taught her was a bit of cursive. She knew the first seven letters in lowercase.
"Can we be done now?" She groaned with a whine. "Yeah you did great today." I smiled and she gave me one back. "Hey Miles." I called out but he just continued bouncing that ball. "So Flora, hows going out to get ice cream sound?" I asked and Miles stopped. "She doesn't leave here." He spoke up. "Do you not want to go? It's fine if you don't honey." I said and she shyly nodded. "I'm sorry." She mumbled and I felt so bad. "Oh no, it's fine. I can just go out and buy some soon, okay?" I asked and she nodded happily. "Mint chocolate chip is my favorite." She said as she began doodling on her work. "Mine too." I felt really happy here. I looked up to see Miles was gone. "I'm sorry Miles was mean to you." She said leaning her head on me. "It's okay, it doesn't bother me." I was sort of lying. It did just a bit.
"I do have to talk to him though." I said and she grabbed my hand. "Let's go!" She happily burst out and dragged me out the rooms and up the stairs. "Go go!" She shoved me in front of his door. I knocked hearing a guitar playing. After a few more seconds passed by with it not stopping Flora pushed me and I opened it. As soon as I came in it slammed shut. That girl is something else.
He didn't even look up at me. I observed his room, big on music I see. "So, we're kind of getting off on the wrong foot. I just, you seem nice, I'm sure you are. Maybe we can just restart?" I shyly asked playing with the ends of my sweater. He just continued playing and I felt like walking out and crying, but, I got this.
"Look," I sat on his bed "I'm really trying here just, please. Please help me out." I stared at him waiting. He just kept on playing that fucking guitar. I had to admit he's good though. Nothing I could recognize. "Miles? Can you stop playing for just one fucking second and talk to me?" I snapped and covered my mouth after. He stopped and looked up at me. Without breaking eye contact he stood up, I was intimidated by him towering over me. "You're school said you're expelled." I said and he leaned down right in front of me, his face inches from mine. "Did they tell you anything else?" He asked and I looked away from his vehement eyes. "You got in a fight, a bad one. You slammed his head into the bathroom wall, they said you're lucky there's no charges." I said gulping as I couldn't help but feel scared deep down. "Good." Was all he said standing up. "I believe you have a lesson to teach me." His eyes danced with amusement as he watched my face turn a deep shade of pink. "Yeah, I do." I said and was walking past him until he grabbed my wrist. He held his hand out and I watched a spider on a web dropped into his hand. My eyes widened a bit as I watched him. "Wouldn't want you to get bit, by anything but me." He whispered the last bit. He walked over to a glass cage, once he dropped the spider in a tarantula grabbed it immediately. Making me flinch a bit.
"I'm ready now." He said with a small smile and I nervously smiled back heading to the art room. As we walked down the stairs I could feel his eyes.
We both sat at the desk on opposite sides. Ten minutes into basic calculus, which he seemed to mainly get. He spoke up finally, "you're struggling." I gave him a confused look. "To read the paper, I'll just." He picked up his chair moving it around the desk next to me. "Sit here." He said and I felt my heart pound in my chest. "So what do I do next?" He asked and I felt his clothed thigh touch my bare one. The area becoming hot. "Rosie?" He asked waving a hand around. "I'm sorry." I blushed looking down at the floor. "What are you thinking about?" He asked turning more to face me and set a hand on my thigh. His hand felt like fire to my icy skin. "What's got you so distracted?" He asked leaning in close to my ear. I could feel his breath on my neck. I shivered slightly and he pulled back chuckling. "So Rosie, what now?" He asked like nothing happened and we continued his work. I felt embarrassed but he didn't seem to mind. Once we were finished I got up grabbing my things.
"Oh and Rosie," he called out as I was about to walk out. He stood up walking over to me. "You're going to need to wear more clothes around a guy like me. You never know what goes on in a hormonal teenagers mind." He said and I realized he probably wasn't just talking about himself. "Oh and Miles," I said as he was walking away. "You're going to need to wear less clothes if you want that to be on my mind." I said with a small smirk before walking away with a sway in my hips. I can't believe I just said that.
