I rush to the parking lot to meet up with May and Tawny. My backpack this this thuds against my back as I jog over to the parking lot. On my way, I cross paths with Tawny, whose silver hair is flowing gently behind her. We exchange worried glances without speaking a word.
I just hope nothing terrible has happened to May. She has an unstable family...maybe something happened. Anything could've happened."May!" I shouted as I jogged over to her.
She just stood there, staring at her phone, shocked."Took you guys long enough," she said cooly.
"What's wrong? Is everything ok?" I asked desperately.
"Ok? Everything's wonderful! David asked me out!" She squeals.
You know in old cartoons when the character gets angry, they turn red and steam comes out of their ears? Well, that's exactly how Tawny looked. True story.
"Seriously? You called us all the way over here to tell us you're going out with a guy? My teacher already hates me, and now I had to get permission to go see if my friend was okay. Do you want me to fail high school?" Tawny inquired.
"It's okay, it's okay. Be excited for me!" May said, delighted.
"I'm happy for you, May. But you did have us really worried," I admitted.
"Oh. I'm sorry, guys. But you don't understand how excited I am. I mean. He likes me. And he's at least a 9.3 on the hot scale," May muttered.
Tawny and I, amused at her rambling scoffed at her enthusiasm.
"Now that we're already out, you guys wanna ditch?" Suggested Tawny
"No!" May and I exclaimed simultaneously.
All three of us exchanged glances. Tawny looked puzzled. May looked terrified, since she didn't want to leave David just yet. I looked embarrassed. I didn't really have a good excuse. Besides the fact that I wanted to spend more time with Tristan and Hunter.
"Wait. What? Why?" Tawny demanded.
"Are you kidding? David just asked me out. I want to at least spend lunch with him. We're like a thing now," May explained nonchalantly.
"Ok. That makes sense, but Ave, why don't you?" Tawny asked, as May nodded in her head in agreement.
"Uh....well...I mean, school is important," I stuttered, while frowning at my own horrible cover up.
Both of my best friends gave disapproving looks.
"Spit it out," Tawny said.
"I know," May said with a devious smile. "Averly's found a guy she likes."
Tawny's face grew into a wide, mischievous smirk. What have you done, May?
"Look at her face! It's true! I knew it! Whoisitwhoisitwhoisitwhoisitwhoisit?" May pestered.
"Shut up, May," I snapped, embarrassed.
"You have to tell us. We tell each other everything," Tawny agreed cooly.
"Ok. 1. I don't like anyone. 2. I just met the guys, so it doesn't mean anything. 3--" I began, before being cut off.
"Wait wait wait hold up. Guys?" May gasped.
Shoot.
"Averly's a plaayyyaaaaaa," said May in her best ghetto accent.
"Wow. That was really white of you," Tawny added.
"Whatever. Please please please tell us who it--uh--they are," May pleaded.
How do I say this without sounding like a total man-eater? Hunter's adorable. Tristan's hot. I'm equally attracted to both of them for completely different reasons. One's calm, cool, and collected, while the other is polite, sweet and caring. What's a girl to do?
