But Charlie and I never dated.DUH.
I was freaking 12 and he was 14-ish.
He moved 2 months after his breakup with Samantha. So that's good.
I guess.
Years passed and fast forward to when I turned 15.
"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Sheila! Happy Birthday to you!" my parents sang while recording a video at 5 am (mind you).
Beside them stood Samantha recording as well but looking wistful.
It was unfair since mom and dad never gave much attention to Samantha. Which was why I would ALWAYS try to give Samantha a gift using the money I saved up whenever her birthday came.
When mom and dad gave their 'early morning' birthday presents, they left to go to work. Leaving Samantha and I a few hours to spare.
"Read my letter first Sheila." Samantha said while nudging her chin towards her letter.
As I opened it, I felt my eyes water a little bit. She put so much effort into this letter! I stared at her little drawings and doodles on the page. Sheila was always so talented but both my parents didn't support her ambition to become an artist.
Dear Sheila-tequila,
Wow! I honestly can't believe that you're 15 now. It seems like it was just yesterday when you were 5 years old and started screaming that wretched "im a barbie girl" song for hours.
"Oh Samantha!" I giggled.
But even if you are not so small now. You'll always stay small to me. Literally hun' since you're just 5'1. ♡
"Samantha!" I laughed while play-hitting her shoulder.
"Read it Sheila." she said rolling her eyes but I saw the corners of her mouth turning into a smile.
Kidding aside, I've watched you grow and mature into the amazing person you've become today. I'm always grateful to be blessed with an amazing sister like you. I honestly couldn't ask for more.
Thank you for trusting me with your secrets and believing in me when no one else would. Thank you for loving me when I felt unloved. And most of all, thank you for letting me know that you're just here for me no matter what.
I want you to know that I'll always be here for you when you need me. They say blood is thicker than water and love is stronger than blood; and we have both. So that means our relationship and connection is twice as special as anyone else's.
I love you my little Sheila Tequila! Happy 15th birthday you lil midget.
~Samantha Banana ♡
P.S I'm not crying - you are.
"Eff you Samantha! I'm not supposed to cry on my birthday!"
"Sheila, you do realize that you can curse right?"
"Well duh! I just don't want to curse. It's not me"
"Sheila trust me, when some dumbass bitch confronts you, you need to let them know that they're being a bitch."
I smiled rolling my eyes remembering the days when Samantha TRIED to teach me 'savage' comebacks.
"But don't worry Sheila-tequila, as long as I'm here, no one is gonna hurt you!" she declared dramatically, while placing her hand on her heart 'theatre-style'.
And it was true.
Ever since I started school, Samantha was always watching out for me. Once when she found out my classmate pushed me to the ground, she cut the girl's hair.
Poor hair.
That obviously got her in trouble; but she stood her ground saying that I was 'abused' by a girl twice my size. The teacher didn't believe it until she saw my bruise and that's really when Samantha lost it.
I tried to calm Samantha down, but she seemed so intent on SHAVING the girl's hair off. However, the teacher on duty said that if Samantha would stay calm, no one would be punished.
I mean obviously, the TEACHER HERSELF would get punished for not being responsible so I thought it was a win-win. No one ever messed with me after that.
