Tyler and the Beach Party
For the second time today, Zev and I were making our way to the beach. After Jordyn invited us to the party tonight, Zev was a big bundle of energy for the rest of the day. He hadn't stopped talking about her and how she actually remembered his name. I told myself I was only going with him because he wanted me to be there but I knew that wasn't the case at all. Jordyn was the reason I was going. I hadn't said more than a few words to her and still, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about her. Granted, Zev wasn't helping the matter, but honestly, even if he weren't talking about her like crazy, I still would've been thinking about her nonstop.
"I still can't believe this is actually happening," Zev said, interrupting my thoughts as I glanced over and met his wide eyes. "Jordyn Davenport invited me, I mean us, to a party! Like this has never happened to me before!"
I chuckled softly. "Do you really think you're that invisible, I mean, look at you, you're Zev freakin' Blackwell," I teased.
A chortled escaped his mouth and a slight blush rose along his cheek. He looked away, placing his hands in the front pockets of his tan khaki shorts he wore. I smirked, watching as he practically skipped the rest of the way to the boardwalk.
We reached the wooden surface, beginning to walk across it. As we did, I took in my surroundings. Earlier today, it was so hot out I didn't even care to look around because all I wanted to do was get into an air-conditioned building. But now, since it cooled off profusely, I could actually appreciate the sites. Even though it was nine-thirty at night, the boardwalk was still insanely crowded with tourists and locals alike. I could hear the sound of the amusement park bells and screams from young kids who were on the rides from here. All I could smell was a mixture of popcorn, fried dough, and cotton candy. The lights of the boardwalk and amusement park lite up the night sky.
A few more steps and I spotted the thin wooden plank, which led from the boardwalk to the beach. Zev headed towards it. I followed behind him, walking up the incline, and taking in the palm trees, which lined either side of it. We made it to the edge and Zev jumped off, like a little kid who was jumping in a puddle after a rainstorm. He was my cousin and I loved him, but sometimes I forgot he was the same age as me.
