"Of course there's water here."
Russia sighed in relief, "Where is it?"
"If I tell you, will you leave this place for good? Or maybe I shouldn't have to tell you and let you get so thirsty you need to get out of here," Germany questioned. Russia groaned, "I swear." "Yes, you do that just as much as I do," Germany replied, "There's a lake somewhere near the core. I don't usually go there since the beast goes there for water sometimes. It's the only water source in this place."
"Show me, I think I'll die from dehydration," Russia ordered. "Stop joking around with your life and using it as an excuse to get something from me. It's not the place for that," Germany complained and walked away. Russia followed behind, soon walking along side him instead.
The two stopped at a small lake. Germany examined the area if the beast were there, to their luck, Germany sensed nothing threatening. Germany walked out of hiding and stood in front of the lake. "This lake, that I named, is The Purest Lake," Germany introduced. Russia stood out too and looked at the lake. "Purest Lake? Really?" Russia laughed. "I named it that way for a reason, Russia. See how the lake water is clear? It never gets dirty, and for some reason this water source is infinite," Germany explained.
Russia bent down and got some dirt on his hands. He placed his hands in the water and washed it off. He watched as he saw the water getting foggy from the dirt, which soon turn clean as it was before as the foggy water fell. "Huh, can't believe something as precious as this is here in this cursed forest," Russia said. He cupped his hands and drank from the water he was able to cup.
"That's because this wouldn't have been here if it weren't for the Beast."
Russia stopped drinking and looked up at Germany, "What..? The beast made this?"
"If you couldn't tell, the beast is the only reason this forest is even alive," Germany said. "Something so beautiful was made by something so feared by everyone," Germany mumbled sadly. Russia looked back at the water. It really was clear, he could barely see his own reflection. The view of the stones and rocks at the bottom of the lake was perfectly visible to see.
"What about those dead trees that stopped this forest from growing? They're dead but they still had leaves. Where did they come from?"
"That was me."
Russia looked back at Germany. "Anything I create have always been lifeless. No matter how much I tried," Germany added, facing away from the lake, "Everyone hated me for it."
Russia stood up, not looking away from Germany. "How did you lose your arm?" Russia asked. "If you think that some people that hated me took it, you're completely wrong," Germany chuckled sadly, "It was for the sake of the people that comes here." "Did the beast took it while you were saving someone?" Russia guessed. "I can't answer you yet," Germany replied.
Russia decided not to bother Germany with that touchy subject anymore. They barely knew each other, of course they wouldn't tell each other's secret. They're just complete strangers. One is just trying to run away while the other is saving lives. Russia wondered how Germany could be so selfless that he suffered so much.
"Let's go, The beast could be here any minute," Germany said.
"Come on, I want to wash myself a bit too," Russia whined. "It's pointless, you'll get yourself dirty the moment you step out of that water. What if the beast gets you while your naked and in the water? Will you run around naked like a caveman?" Germany teased. "Well, I think at least one of us would enjoy the view," Russia cooed.
Germany silently regretted his attempt to make fun of Russia and walked away. Russia chuckled at how flustered and disappointed Germany got and quickly followed the demon. Russia couldn't help but think of the many theories he had about Germany, the forest and the beast.
"Have you heard about the rumors and stories people said about the beast?" Russia asked. "Of course, why?" Germany asked. He stopped on his tracks and faced Russia. "Are they true?"
Germany didn't answer. Russia saw how Germany's hand turned to a fist. He was clenching so hard his hand almost bled. Germany turned away from Russia, "No. They were no where near the truth." Russia could feel the anger in his voice when he said that. He sounded frustrated but it was as if he was holding back.
Germany kept walking and Russia followed once more.
"The plants you make aren't very pretty."
Germany kept quiet. He could feel his blood boil even more.
"But I don't hate you for it. I don't even hate you at all."
Germany looked back at Russia.
"You're always nagging me to get out but, I just don't see a reason to hate you. You're just too much of a good person."
Germany's muscles stopped tensing and relaxed in a sorrowful manner. His posture changed from tense and angry to miserable and sadness. "Don't say that... I'm not a good person. You just don't know me..." Germany sighed.
Russia grabbed Germany by the shoulder and turned him around, facing each other. "Why would you say that? You're literally risking a lot just to save strangers from that beast. How can you not be a good person? You're so selfless," Russia stated. Germany shook his head, he placed a hand on Russia's and gently pushed it away from his shoulder. "It's true... I am selfless. I'm selfless but in the most selfish way possible," Germany winced and continued to walk away.
Russia didn't understand.
He didn't understand and that made him want to know more.
Russia wasn't always curious. But right now he had nothing better to do. He was on the run, knowing that no one will ever catch him there. He still needed to get used to the forest. Germany was right, he was the only reason Russia had survived until now.
If he needed Germany to survive in a cursed place, he should at least get to know him.
"Aren't you coming?"
Russia looked at Germany and nodded, "Right."
