We road in silence and finally I let out a big woosh of air as my anger subsided.

Kristoff had kept quiet the whole time as I to keep my fangs in place.

I knew if I'd lost my temper and killed -again- stuff might not look up at me. The Vampire Council would probably say 'We can't give such a monster a life."

I sighed and just stared out the window, a frown starting to form on my forehead.

I knew what happened to her money. Or well, I'm guessing I do.

She had come home drunk four days ago. That was the day her late husband had died seventeen years ago. I never met my brother's father, because he died a week before the day I was presented to the earth.

Four days ago I remember her running on wonky legs to her room and running back outside.

She might have paid the taxi fare or something.

I shrugged and turned to Kristoff. "Hey, do you have a sister?"

"Why do you ask?" He asked. He had a slight frown on and in his eyes I saw a slight confusion.

"I can't show up there in boots."

Kristoff chucked. "In that case, I got two. Helen has a pair you can borrow."

"Why did you think I wanted to know?"

"Girls like to gossip and that's all I am going to say."

"Fair enough."

I sighed again. I was glad he hadn't asked what was happening at my house. I looked out the window again. We were in the southern side of town.

"Were are we going?" I asked.

"My sister's apartment is just up ahead. I would have taken you to my house, but Dad hasn't stopped bragging about you being so smart about vampires and no one has teached you anything yet."

"Why is that so bad?"

"Because now Mom wants to meet you and question you about possible answers. She gives classes at the university, so she wants to see if you figured out as well."

"I'll be sure to avoid her," I said mockingly.

I saw Kristoff smile.

"So what's going to happen tonight?" I asked.

"I don't know. They are probably going to ask questions and then ask you if you'll abide the rules of the vampires."

"Doesn't sound so bad."

Kristoff said nothing for a while. "Why does your mother call you Evelyn?"

"It's my first name," I said shortly. We were turning into another street. Two minutes went by and we parked in front of a house.

"Helen's house," Kristoff said as he climbed out of the car.

I followed after him and stood just on the edge of the shadows. I was a little embaressed.

The opened seconds later and a female came out. She was pulling shoes on and stop midway a sighed in relieve.

"Kristoff, thank God it's only you!" She said and pulled him into a hug. "Dad said he was stopping by later and when I heard somebody knock on the door I thought, God! Dad won't be happy when he finds out a I slept with a human and drank from his vein. And I open the door and see you and the newbie and..."

Her voice trailed away as she went back onside the house.

"Come on," Kristoff said as he ushered me in.

"...house isn't clean would piss him off more!" Helen continued. She then turned around. "What are you doing here, anyway?"

"Mona needs to borrow some shoes for the meeting. Can she?"

"Yes, of course!" She said as she vanished around the corner.

"Energetic," I whispered to Kristoff.

"Very," he whispered back. "I think that is why everyone is glad she is out of the house."

"Who is out the house?" Asked Helen as she returned.

"Just some girl we know," I said. At least I wasn't lying, I did know of her.

"Do I know her?" Helen asked.

"Probably," Kristoff said.

"Well here," she said as she threw the shoes in my direction.

"Thanks," I said and pulled them on. They fitted perfectly.

"Come on," Kristoff said. "We will be late if we don't get going."

"You're going,"Helen said, sounding said. "So soon?"

"Yup, bye sis," he said as he walked to the front door.

"Well come visit soon."

"Sure."

A few chilling seconds I was back into the car.

We rode in silence yet again.

Then Kristoff pulled up to a church and a giggled came out of my mouth.

Kristoff looked me, his expression a little forgein.

"It's nothing," I said as I looked at the church again. It was so big. But I guess most Gothic churches are large.

When we walk into the church, I was slightly taken aback.

We had entered into a long corridor, with at least seven stained glass windows to lit up the room. At the far end of the room, stood a person.

Well actually he was leaning against the wall.

As we drew near, I realized he was inspecting me, and I started to blush.

"Is this her?" He said when we were in front of him.

I saw Kristoff nod.

Under my breath, I said: "Yeah, like there would be somebody else here at midnight. Or maybe he just think I am munchies for the vamps."

He chucked and I realised he heard me perfectly. My blush deepend as I looked toward my left.

There was a single door there, which was beautifully carved to deepen the shadows.

"The Counclers will see you now," said the guy after a few seconds later.

I turned to the door that Kristoff was walking to and went through it.
