Norway, Midgard.

Thor knew the time would come, with his father growing older, weaker each day. He never knew it would be so sudden. No warning. No sign of illness. Just like that he was gone. Not even in the comfort of his own bed in the palace surrounded by his people but here; in a strange place so far away from home with no one else - just Thor and his... his false son with him in his final moment. Gone just like a mortal, not a powerful king, who ruled the Nine Realms for millennia, that he was. And this - this was wrong. This was so very wrong.

Thor knew just whose fault was that.
(Or so he thought he knew, but it didn't really matter now, did it?)

Loki realized he was fucked the second he saw Thor's hands clench into tight fists with sparkles dancing between his fingers, his body started to shake. Thor was consumed by boiling anger. Loki, fully aware how dangerous and unpredictable his brother was when he was in so much rage he lost himself, took unsteady steps away. His eyes darting back and forth between Thor's fists and Thor's face. This didn't look good, especially when there was nothing else - no one else - Thor could take the anger out on. Nothing but Loki.
(In the past, when Thor was mad, he'd either go sparring and hunting, breaking down some trees, until he cooled down. And Loki had never even seen Thor this mad before he was shaking)

"Thor?" Loki dared say the name. As though by saying it would somehow snap Thor out of it, out of the burning rage taking over his every atom. It was childish, Loki knew that. Still, that childish part of him held onto the glimpse of hope that Thor was still there somewhere and that Thor would hear his voice.

That hope came crashing down pretty quickly when, slowly, Thor turned to look at him. The murder in Thor's eyes told Loki his brother was not here and, standing in front of him was a blood-thirst beast with his brother's face.

"This is all your fault," Thor hissed through gritted teeth. His voice low, murderous. His eyes even more deadly.

"Brother, I -" before Loki had a chance to finish whatever he was trying to say, Thor charged at him with a mean punch, the impact strong enough to send him stumbling backward. Before he knew it he was lying on his back on the grass, the breath knocked out of his lungs.

He didn't get to catch his much-needed oxygen when Thor straddled him, delivering another punch right in his face, and another, and another.

Thor lost himself utterly. He undoubtedly had no idea what he was doing. All he knew was that Odin was dead, his father was dead and his numb heart told him this was Loki's fault. Loki killed Odin.

"How could you?!" Thor was shouting, his loud voice echoing in Loki's ears. "How could you? How dare you?" He hit him again and again. And Loki found it impossible to defend himself in any way or to get himself out from under Thor.

Thor had always been stronger. With Thor giving Loki no room to make use of his silver tongue or his seidr, Loki became suddenly very aware of how severe the situation was. How fucked he was.

He tasted copper in his mouth - no doubt blood - and started choking on it. "T - Thor," Loki tried to say, to speak sense into his brother who was, unfortunately, not here. The man with his brother's face pushed Loki's hands away when he hopelessly brought them up in front of his face as makeshift shield. When Thor next hit him with a closed fist, Loki heard a bone crack, dark spots exploring behind his eyes.

The blood filled his throat, his nose and he couldn't breathe. Fuck. He couldn't breathe. Panic rose in his chest, his eyes widened and he struggled, with all the strength he had left, to no avail.
