feels like we're dreaming

Hela never came to inform Thor of Loki's fate. If he lived or died. And that was the worst; the unknown. It was slowly driving Thor insane, tearing apart the tiny piece of sanity he tried to hold onto.

Loki could be dead by now. He could've died in Thor's arms, held, loved, but it was Thor who deliberately handed him over to her, deliberately handed him in a plate to Hela to suffer a slow death, alone and in pain. And none of this would've happened, Hela's arrival might be inevitable, sure, but Loki might still be alive. After all it was, again, Thor who hurt him so badly he nearly - if not already - disfigured the only family he had left.

Now he had no one. His own people were brutally killed because he let it happen. He let them all down and he let his own brother down. What Thor was now, he wasn't sure, but he knew he was no king. He wouldn't dare call himself a brother, either. What kind of brother would do such thing to their own sibling?

So this was the punishment then. He could live a million years and more without seeing the sun. He wouldn't last a day in the pit of guilt and shame eating him from inside out.

Thor screamed till his throat hurt, knowing if Odin's first born - his sister - heard it then he'd only entertain her more. It didn't matter. Nothing mattered, not anymore.

If he could, he'd be joining his mother and father and brother and people in Valhalla.

"Your brother -" Skurge cut himself off when Hela gave him a stern, warning gaze; murderous, before quickly corrected himself, "the prince," he stopped again because that would most likely cost him his head. When he gulped he realised he wasn't certain what title he was supposed to use, so he just said, "he hasn't been eating, my queen,"

Hela rolled her eyes before went back to sharpening her sword (she didn't have to do it, she could make it the strongest, most powerful weapon in all the Nine Realms by her magic, by wishing it to be so, she just liked to do something to kill the boredom with) "I don't know why you're even bothering me with such nonsense, Skurge," she said, not paying him any attention. "It's like you think I care."

Skurge kept silence, because he didn't know what she expected him to respond (and he didn't want to risk his neck by saying the wrong word, he felt like he'd been walking on thin ice)

She sighed. It was when Skurge was about to excuse himself that she spoke up, "which... one of them?"

Skurge paused for a breath or two. "Loki, my queen."

Hela sighed, she was probably about to say something before her little servant beat her to it, "actually," Skurge trailed off, his voice wavered, "Thor hasn't been eating either,"

"Great," she said, "let them starve to death if they want. Idiots." She continued working with her toy for about half a minute before letting out a huge sigh. "What is it?" Hela turned her head at Skurge, now fully looking at him because he was still kneeling there.

Skurge looked unsure, but he was getting on her nerve and he knew he should've gotten out of her sight long ago. He just... had to. "I'm - I'm worried about Loki, my queen. He's still unwell and he needs those sustenance in order to get better. He just... wouldn't eat. I'm afraid he won't -"

"That's enough."

He stopped. Hela wasn't raising her voice, but Skurge was smart enough to detect a threat when he heard one. He'd already pushed too much.

"Dismissed and no more whining about the Jotun runt, understood?"

"Yes, my queen." Skurge kept his eyes glued to the floor before leaving the chamber, Hela continued sharpening the sword.
