~Chapter 3~

Finally, after cleaning up this morning's mess and changing my shirt, I'm off to school. I'm walking down the highway, slowly but surely, inch by inch, making my way towards school.

Cars zoom pass me, a few honking at me when they drive too close to the edge. Of course, it's always my fault for everything, Everything that can possibly go wrong is always because if me. Yup, there's logic in there somewhere.

I check my watch and see that it's 7:30. Great, after half an hour of walking, I'M NOT EVEN HALFWAY THERE and school starts in 20 minutes!! Awesome right? I just love my life. #Sarcasm

I continue to stomp down the road when a blue car pulls up next to me. I look over and through the window I see my best (and only) friend, Kyle Jackson smiling through the window.

"Need a ride?" He asks.

I throw my blue bag in the backseat and enter his car with a "thanks" and buckle in my seatbelt.

Kyle has been my best friend ever since I was 14, right after I came out. He was the only person who would talk to me, which was weird because I've never even spoken to him before then. I was just glad that at least someone was talking to me. Kyle's straight and he's a pretty laid back guy. He's the type of person that'll just go along with anything. He's also a really good listener and comforter, which is a good thing, because I've cried on his shoulder dozens of times.

"So, what's new?" He asks me, probably knowing my morning just by the look on my face.

"Same old, same old," I reply. "Nancy's still a hoe and Riley's still... Riley."

He chuckles. "Wanna talk about it?"

"Nah, it wasn't that bad," which was true. Compared to other mornings, this one was a walk in the park. "Although, the crazy bitch did wake me up at 3AM to do her stupid list of chores."

"Chores? At 3AM?" He shakes his head. "Nathan, how many times do I have to say this? You can always move in with me." He tells me, a serious edge in his voice.

I want to. I've always wanted to. To leave Nancy and Riley. What else could I want (besides Jack)? But, I feel like if I leave them, I'm leaving my dad. I grew up in that house all my life, and for them to make me leave just feels like I'm handing them a win; and I hate when people I... Dislike, win.

"I'll get through it," I simply say.

The rest if the short drive is silent, with the songs of the radio the only noise.

We eventually pull into the school's parking lot and Kyle parks his car under a big tree, not so far away from the main door. We gather our stuff and head inside.

When we get inside, Kyle accompanies me to my locker, which is ironically by the guys locker room.

I shut my locker and we begin walking towards our first hour class, Kyle's talking about some football game that was apparently on last night.

"...And then he intercepts the ball, then charges down the field!" He talks excitedly. "The guy was knocking everyone down that came in his way and made the winning touchdown for the team. It was awesome!".

I try to pay attention, but then I see Jack Lyons walking down the hallway drinking a red sports drink. He's surrounded by the rest if the jocks and preps. Guess who's with him. My step-brother, Riley. They're laughing at a joke that was told by one of the blonde cheerleaders, Hannah, I think.

Jack stops by his locker while the rest of the group continues to walk.

"Oh, crap! I forgot my trig book in my locker!" Kyle says and rushes towards his locker. I follow behind him, but run into someone who turns around, spilling their drink all over my clothes and his.

"Omigod!" I cry, looking down at my now red soaking wet clothes. "I'm so sorry!" I look up and see Jack Lyons covered in the same stuff. OMIGOD NATHAN! YOU JUST RAN INTO JACK LYONS! Great, now he probably thinks I'm some kind of klutz.

"Nah, dude, don't worry about it," he says zipping down his black jacket, revealing a tight white short sleeved shirt that hugs him in all the right places.

He reaches into his locker and pulls out another jacket and hands it to me. "Here, take it. It looks like you'll need it," he says, handing it to me.

I take it, not wanting people to see through my shirt, and put it on. "Thanks," I barely get out, still calmly freaking out in my mind. *girlish squeal here* I'm wearing his jacket! #FanGirling

Jack nods his head and walks off. Kyle comes up behind me and smirks. "Dude," he says.

"Hmmmm?" I reply absentmindedly as I watch Jack walk down the hall.

"You've got it bad,".

I snap out if my la la land and look at him. "I don't know what you're talking about," I simply roll my eyes and head to first period.
