My name is Lyra Daniels.
After graduating from high school and university, I was lucky to find a job. It took me a year and a half to finally get a job and now three years later at the age of 25, I'm glad to say that I have an office job with a good salary and the hours are decent as well, besides the days I have to work overtime but hey what did you expect?
As I mentioned I've been working at this company for the past three years and the event that caught my eye happened at our annual New Years' Eve party. It was my first time going and I was excited.
However, the thing that caught my eye was not a what but a whom.
There's this guy and the only thing I know about him is that we work at the same office, but I hadn't ever seen him before. The reason why I noticed him among the crowd in the first place was that while taking a break from the party, I had lost my balance and he caught me before I could fall. I only got to mutter thanks before the countdown started and he was pulled away by someone.
Later that night I tried to find him to say a proper thank you, but he was nowhere to be found and the same went for the days after the holiday. Even when I asked other colleagues about him, they never knew who I was talking about. Eventually, I just gave up on finding him.
However due to fate I guess, I saw him again at the next party. I was so surprised to see him because, to be honest, I had started to think I had simply imagined the guy. That time however when our eyes finally met the corner of his lips quirked up forming half a smile. At first, I thought it was at me, but I soon realized that the smile was for the woman behind me who passed me, heading towards him.
Witnessing that made me feel embarrassed and uneasy so I just left to mingle with my friends and colleagues.
"Lyra! Don't forget to wear that dress tonight okay?" my friend Anthea said before she left.
I shook my head returning to the present. The reason why I had this flashback was because of what happened earlier today.

"Are you ready?" Anthea asked.
"Huh? Ready for what?" I asked confused.
"You forgot didn't you?" Anthea sighed disappointedly. "You promised to go shopping with me remember?"
"Ah yes. Not that you mentioned it. Just let me finish forwarding this file and submitting these documents and I'll join you, okay?"
"Sure but hurry up!"
Not long after Anthea and I left for our shopping spree or rather Anthea's shopping spree. It was in the last shop that she found what she wanted.
"So? What do you think?"
"Yes! I absolutely love it!" I replied earnestly.
She wore a navy cocktail dress that suited her perfectly and because of her curves would definitely make some heads turn. Male and female alike.
