Thankfully Bills Pet Shop is all but empty a few older witches buying cat treats. My mood is more somber by the time I get back the whole school will know that I’m a parselmouth. Very few historical figures were able to do that and be good people, I think the founder of Ivermorny is the only one. I look at the glass tank trying to distract myself this will fit on my night table, a few expansion charms. I let Casper explore it he coils into it hissing around as I try to smile.“Your nervoussss?”
“I don’t know I feel...I’m losing myself again going back to the time when I had no control over anything. Now I’m looking for a cage.”
“Itssss not a cage it's a house, my house.” He climbs out into my hand. “They’re jealous that you're sooooo awesome you can talk to me.”
Huffing out a laugh I nod at my scally friend. “Totally.”
I get the tank along with some lava rocks to keep it nice and warm, Elloit holds up some owl treats I nod throwing them in tank. The clerk notices me. “Your Lyra!”
“Yeah that’s me.”
He rings up my perchases giving me a 10 percent discount I pay full price anyway, thanking him very much for the offer. When he offers to deliver my purchases to the castle I do accept that common kindness thanking him very much as I leave. Elloit sensing my mood does his best to cheer me up as we walk the streets of Graylock. “The famous Lyra what can you tell us about her harrowing trip to the pet shop. The people must know.”
Knocking into him he sways to the right. “That was graceful how ever will you get a date like that?”
“I will curse you,” I say laughing at him.
“Can I bite him? I’ll bite him for you?”
He opens the door of Madge's Book Emporium. “You two are dorks.”
“Yeah but we’re dorks,” My human friend says.
We find ourselves cramped into the forgin beast section of the store. I flip through the pages of a book. Nothing looks like the creature in my pocket. Setting aside the books I shake my head. I have the next two months to figure this out right now my mind is clouded by other more current developments. Pulling on Elliot shirt. “Come on, let's get a Coco and head back we’ll start fresh next weekend.”
“Good with me.”
“Me too.” Casper says he pools in my coat pocket ready to sleep.
Pushing our way out the shop I trip almost eating pavement when a hand pulls me up. “You alright deary?”
It's a woman pale pink coat with flowers that are blooming. “Yeah thanks.”
She gasped softly getting a proper look at me. “Your Lyra, I’m Terra Boyd editor of Witch Way Magazine.”
I shake her hand. “It's nice to meet you.”
“I was hoping to meet you actully I want to do a photoshoot with you.”
Elloit giggles and I elbow him. “I’m flattered but I don’t think I’m right for your magazine. I’m not the flowery frills type.” Josie was she was featured in it all the time wearing lacy see through blouse and short skirts. Sarah would be a better fit she loved Witch Way having patterned a more modest look after it.
The Crows Nest cafe is popular with students there are dark mahogany tables and a bewitched ceiling that reflects the outside sky. The walls are painted murals of the ocean dolphins and mermaids jump out of the water. You really feel like your a ship sometimes candles burn given off the scent of salty seas. Music is playing from sea gulls that fly around the room. We get a table by the front window. Seventh year students are allowed jobs on the weekends a Wampus girl takes our order then leaves us alone.
