HARRYS P.O.V
I stood there frozen in the kitchen of our little three bedroom flat which overlooked the Berlin Wall, staring at my parents waiting for them to repeat to me what they had previously said, hoping what I heard was just an illusion.
"What?" I said, sternly.
"Harry sweetie, you're going to be evacuated" my mum said, the hurt in her voice clear.
"What do you mean, why?" I shouted at her who was stood next to my dad leaning up against the island in our small kitchen.
"It's not safe for you here anymore Harry, the bombings are becoming far too harsh and the shootings are too often. If a gas bomb drops tomorrow then we are all dead!" She said back, calmer than I expected her to be.
"We could never forgive ourselves if anything happened to you Harry, or to your sister, it scares us that she isn't going" my dad said.
"Why doesn't Gemma have to go?" I shouted.
"Because Gemma is an adult" he replied firmly.
"We wish she could go Harry but she's over 18, she's an adult, all of the city kids have-"
"IM NOT A KID" I cut my dad off by shouting.
"You said we moved here to Germany so that you could work, you're based here to clear out the camps and liberate Dad, you wanted us all together that's why me and Gemma had to come! And now, now you're shipping me off" I spat.
"Yes but Harry you have to go, you aren't safe here sweetie you know that" my mum softly said, trying to calm me down.
She walked over to me and sat down on the chair next to mine, I can't even remember sitting down myself, my brain is far too jumbled up right now to even think straight. I miss home, I miss England, I miss my friends, I miss my girlfriend.
She then came I to my head. Jennifer. I'd been trying not to think of her for days. Thinking of her hurt, it hurt me a lot. I miss her so much, I love her. There are so many things I want to do, spend my life with her, protect her from the war, keep her safe. I just want to get home and marry her so I can make love to her for the first time. Consummate our sacrament of love to one another.
"Harry?" My mum said, breaking my thought.
"Yeah..." I responded, I didn't hear what she said but I have to agree anyways.
"In a few weeks when you turn 18 you can come back, you can come back to us and we can all be together if that's what you really want. Your safety is most important though Harry" my mum said as she wrapped her arms around me.
"Okay" I quietly responded. "I'll go upstairs and pack"
"The train leaves 9am tomorrow boy" my father said. I nodded as I turned to walk to my room hiding the tears that had fallen from my eyes and down cheeks.
