You wake up the following morning feeling well rested if not a little stiff. Serana still quietly sleeping next to you. Moving slow and softly you slide out of the bed and put on your clothes, armour and weapons. the noise caused by the armour and weapons cause Serana to slowly wake up "good morning." she says in a happy but tired voice. She gets up and starts getting dressed, after finishing breakfast you get a different carriage driver to take you to Solitude. at least this driver isn't a bloody vampire you think then you reconsider seeing as Serana is also a vampire you ponder on the subject for most of the carriage ride along with general small talk with Serana. Arriving at solitude you find people gathered around the pale body of a nord woman as you exit the cart you hear "she's drained dry and ice cold" from a guard and "vampire?" From another "vampires are fake aren't they" another puts in. Serana pulls her hood over her head and tilts her head down slightly hiding her eyes. You and her quietly make your way down the road sights set on Volkihar.
After reaching the small boat and taking it to the island, you and Serana navigate the rocky shoreline of the landmass until Serana points out an outcrop containing a medium sized dock a broken ship and some semi solid looking structures. Semi solid because several pieces of both the dock and chunks from several of the small structures had fallen into the water sinking to the bottom. Serana is about to step out when you see the blue glowing eyes of undead. You quickly pull Serana back behind large rock you are behind, as two arrows come flying past her and into the ocean peering over the rock you see at least 6 sets of eyes then you and Serana nod at each other and run out from behind cover. Instantly two arrows hit you in the chest and shoulder. but the wood shafts are old and brittle and break on the armour and glance off,
two skeletons run forward one with an axe another with a sword the axe swings at the both you and Serana. You both duck under the the massive swing and you run your sword into the brittle spine. The bone snaps then the skeleton collapse into a pile of bones the other is stabbed in the head by Serana it two collapses into a pile however it's skull remains stuck to her dagger still running to cover she pulls the skull of the dagger you and her press your selfs to a stone wall a ice spike hits the wall next to Serana. She doesn't miss a beat and Serana's ice spike rams into the skeleton s armoured chest splintering the armour "nice shot" you say panting "thanks she replies" then you move forward, there on the second level are two armoured skeletons with the weak ineffective arrows, and bows you think as the second skeleton's bow string snaps it is dispatched by a ice spice sent by Serana. As you run forward towards the last skeleton another defective arrow sharers on the armour and then you decapitate the skeleton.
When Serana catches up she says "those skeletons haven't been tended two in a long time" "Is that a good thing?" You inquire "yes it means no ones been here in awhile" Serana answers then you see a door on the far left "bet that's the exit tunnel." You say "Or our entrance tunnel" Serana says moving towards the door. pulling on the latch there is a loud screech as the door swings open rust falling form the hinges, as you and Serana walk in the sea breeze shuts the door behind you as you look back at the door you hear a loud crunch and you look up and see an exposed wood reinforcement has cracked in half causing stone debris to fall down pushing Serana out of harms way you jump to safety yourself luckily the cave in wasn't to bad and had only covered the exit instead of burning you both under. As you walk forward you enter an room consisting of three descending floor areas. a barrel sits in the corner of the second lowest floor along with a pile of gore on the floor. There are two doors one on a lowest floor and another on she second lowest floor. as you open the door on the second floor it opens onto a very small balcony you see a pool of dirty looking water bellow you a path runs along the edges and bridge crosses across the pool then Serana says "this is the old water cistern, some days this would smell just well... be glad you weren't here then."
You and Serana head down to the lowest area and open the large double doors the lead into the cistern moving through the air is heavy with the smell of salt water. In fact the salt over the decades had built up a crystalline layer over the stone work connecting to the pool of stagnant water. Human remains lay scattered haphazardly around the ground and at the bottom of the pool. At regular intervals there a half oval drains at the bottom of the floor, Moving through you see that there is a section branching off the the left just before the the floor rises up with a stairway onto another raised area. You turn down the alternate path to the left, it goes down a few more meters and ends in a wood bridge currently drawn up out of one of the drains two skeletal arms reach out one arm clutching a rusty dagger looking above you see another small balcony identical to the one on the far side on the balcony there is a lever pulling it would probably lower the bridge you wager. "Any ideas where to go?" Serana asks "ya" you reply "over that bridge and up the stairs will probably lead us to the lever up there." Pointing the lever out to Serana she nods her head "I'll stay here wile you pull the leaver." You in turn nod your agreement and make your way over towards the bridge. As you do so you see that there are piles of bones littered all over, As you move over the bridge. Moving up the stairs you reach the raised area on the far left wall you see another staircase flaked by a shelf alchemy table and on the floor next to the alchemy table lays a breathing ragged vampire she starts to stir and looks up at you. She scampers to her feet hissing and pulling out a elven dagger lunging at you, you grab her arm with your left hand as she thrusts at you then turning to you right you yank her arm behind you she falls Down, then you stomp on her chest and you hear the unmistakable crunch of bone breaking as you cave in her rib cage. The thing squirms on the ground for a-bit coughing and gargling up blood before laying still. Moving up the stairs you open the door you go through the doorway, you see a small pile of bloodied remains and the lever.
Pulling the lever you hear a series of clinking noises as the bridge lowers "that Did it!" you hear Serana call up "good I'm on my way back down" you call back. Heading down the stairs and across the bridge, again you see the bridge has opened onto a small crossroad but directly opposite you there is another draw bridge witch is up. Serana stands in the centre of the two accessible pathways "what now?" you say "I think we go this way" she says pointing to the left you follow her down the tunnel "watch out for those" she says pointing at several sharp metal stars strung together hanging from the roof of the tunnel you thank her for pointing it out and make great efforts to avoid hitting them. It smells awful Rounding a corner you see why. You enter a large room the bottom of witch holds a deep body of water but that's not what drew your eye or caused the stench what did was the massive piles of humanoid bones staked in massive piles as you cautiously move forward. You notice that above the four piles there is a grate in the ceiling. the grate over the third pile opens and a stream of blood, bloody remains and a wide verity bones (including pelvis bones) fall from the grate clattering onto the other bones spilling down the sides of the pile and either splashing into the water or finding gapes were they stick in place adding to the ever growing pile. You then move back seeing that the noise has attracted a large pack of the shadowy hounds
