The Hunters
"We need to kill the source, she has dark magic, just like her father."
" How can we make sure that she's the only Blake child in the circle?"
" We can't, but we need to act fast, they know we are after them. They are planning a move and we can't keep following them forever"
" Get the car"
The Hunted
" That's not funny Tyler." I laughed at him, trying to unlock my door. I swore under my breath as I walked through the mud room and greeted my dad watching the game on our flatscreen. The only thing that we haven't packed up yet. Were moving tomorrow and I got stuck sleeping at Tylers house. His mother is a fast packer, so she still has the guest bed up. You see, all six of us, we are together. So, when one moves, we all move. It's been that way for about a year now, ever since we found eachother, everyone in the circle only has one parent. The other has passed, we've never met our other parent. They all died together. Right after we were born. We are a very 'close' group of friends, you could say.
" I'll see you in the morning Daddy" I smiled kissing him on the cheek. I grabbed my bag and walked back out to the car with Tyler on my heels.
" Bye Dear" he called through the screen door. I smiled unlocking the car. Tyler quietly hummed to himself and shut the door behind him.
The drive to Tylers was quiet, I know that he's upset about leaving. Were leaving our childhood. All of it behind for a fresh start. It wasn't exactly our choice. It was our parents idea, but I think it will be good. Were moving back to Forks. Washington that is. Where it's always raining. Where I always feel close to my mother. I've visted my grandpa every summer there, before he died. Now it's just my Grams, in that huge house all by herself.
I pulled up to Tylers house and ran my fingers through my long golden blonde hair before getting out of the car. I walked up the side walk alongside Tyler. I opened the door and felt my mouth drop open. I felt Tyler run past me and towards his mothers body. He pulled out the knife peircing her cold lifeless body.
I heard a screach of tires from outside. I locked the door behind me and ran upstairs. I opened the hollow stair and pulled out the crystal. I ran back down to Tyler rubbing the tears off his face.
" We have to go" I whispered.
" These bastards need to die, they killed my mom" Tyler snapped.
" Listen to me, well get them, just not now, not with the crystal here, we have to go." I said pulling him to the back door. He ran behind me, he pulled me in a hug. I knew we were going to have to split up. " Be safe" I whispered. " You too"
I cringed when I saw a hunter running for me, his bullet entering the bark of the tree next to me.
" Run" I cried, running in the opposite direction of Tyler.
I took off running, my long blonde hair hitting my back, the fringe or my dress hitting my legs. I ran hearing the crunch of the dead leaves and the twigs that have fallen to the earth. I heard them all shouting behind me. I swore under my breath. I clutched the crystal in my hand and slid it in my riding boots. Which, I admit weren't the shoes I would prefer to be running in right now, but they would hide the crystal. I ran faster, picking up the pace as I felt a arrow fly past me. I looked behind me, there was only two of them after me. But they were fast, really fast.
I cringed at the pounding in my head and the burning in my lungs. I kept running, that was, until I felt an arrow pierce through my skin. That made me drop to the ground. I cried out in pain as I pulled the arrow out of my side. I layed on my back, waiting to die.
I looked at my hands, covered in blood. My blood. I felt cold, the rain pelting on my skin didn't help either. I had to be in Forks, it's the only place it rains this hard. I let my mind travel to the rest of my circle. I wonder if they could feel it. Me dying. I didn't even get to say goodbye. I let my mind travel to Tyler, who was still running. Then to Alec, Joey, Jess, Cassie, who were all probably having a slumber party at Jessica's. Figuring out new ways to hide ourselves. From everyone we were to come in contact with. But now, they don't have to worry about me. I'm dead.
I hear them, there steps are slower now, closer, heavier. I looked up at there faces. Tired, non phasing. I wonder why they hate me, my kind. I wonder what they are told, why they hunt us. I know my kind has been here since the beginning of time. But, we don't kill people. They spend days and endless nights figuring out new ways to kill us, where we live, who they could use to get to us. Thats why we don't let anyone else in. Thats why it's just us six in the circle. I've never met anyone else who is like us.
My breathing is slow, as is my heartbeat. My eyelids are heavy, my blood is flooding the grass that is surrounding me. There is nothing left for me to do. I can't save myself, not without the rest of the circle. But what happenes when I'm dead. The circle will be broken, so what will happen to everyone else.
