I Love To Hate You

Chapter Two

We walked into Hayes' blaring house. Everyone was here. And when I say everyone I mean EVERYONE. From freshmen to sophomores, to juniors, and the biggest and baddest of all; the seniors. Hayes has a older brother named Nash who's a senior.

"Hey!" Hayes walked up a lightly kissed Caroline.

You would think that Hayes is a terrible person to girls because of how bad he is but to your own surprise he isn't.

"Hey." she smiled.

"How are you doing Sydney?" Hayes asked while he wrapped his arm around Caroline's waist.

"Uh I'm doing great." I fidgeted uncomfortably

You see, Hayes knows that I have had a crush on him thanks to my ex-boyfriend, Nick. The reason why Nick is my ex is because of Hayes. Another issue I had was Nick and Hayes were best friends. And I fell for my boyfriends best friend.

FLASH BACK

"But Nick, you have to understand!" I cried.

"No Sydney! I can't understand!" Nick yelled.

"I-I am so sorry Nick." I couldn't stand here with out tearing up.

"You know what? I am sorry! I'm sorry that I wasted 7 months with you! I am sorry that my first love fell in love with my best friend! How would you feel if I fell in love with Caroline? Huh Sydney?" He shook his head.

"I-I would hate it but you have to understand-" he cut my off before I could finish.

"No. I don't have to understand anything else besides the fact the my girlfriend fell in love with my best friend." He opened the door.

Before he closed it, I tried to stop him.

"Nick! please wait!" I cried.

"Wait for what Syd?" He said.

I shivered when he said Syd. He called me Syd all the time.

"Well? Wait for you to explain why you fell in love with my best friend? Well, I am not going to stand here and listen to that!" he teared up.

"Nick it wasn't you, it was me!"

"Obviously it was me. I did something wrong. And if I hadn't done something wrong, you wouldn't have fell in love with my best friend. Good-bye Sydney." He said and walked out the door.

END OF FLASH BACK

I was snapped out of my thoughts.

"Syd?" Caroline said.

"Yeah?"

"Hayes and I are going to go in the living room if you wanted to come." she smiled.

"Sure. I am just going to find Kylie.

Kylie was another great friend of mine. She had gorgeous long blonde hair the reached the middle of her back. Her eyes were the brightest blue you would ever see.

"Syd! Over here!" Kylie waved.

I walked over. I saw who she was sitting by. Nick. I haven't talked to Nick since our terrible break up about 2 months ago.

"Hi." I awkwardly said.

"Hey babe!" Kylie laughed.

I was laughing when Nick snapped his head up.

"Oh.. Hey Sydney." he scratched the back of his neck.

"How are you?" I replied with a sweet smile.

"I've been good." he smiled back.

I feel like the tension is gone. But I could never forgive him for telling my biggest secret of all; I like Hayes Grier. He told Hayes, that I liked him to get back at me for breaking his heart. Nick obviously did not think it through because my best friend is dating the guy I like! If Caroline found out, she would never talk to me again. She is so protective over Hayes.

"Hey! Anyone want to play truth or dare?" someone shouted.

"Want to?" Kylie asked Nick and I.

"Sure. I just don't want to play. I'd gladly watch idiots asking dumb questions." I giggled.

"Same. I'm with you, Syd." Nick smirked.

He called me Syd. HE HASNT CALLED ME SYD SINCE WE BROKE UP!

We all gathered in a circle and sat down.

"Alright.. I'll start." a boy in my grade said.

"Truth or dare Caroline?"

"Dare." she said bravely.

"I dare you to take Hayes upstairs for 5min." he replied.

And with that, Caroline grabbed Hayes' hand dragged him upstairs. As the were walking up, a small smirk appeared on Hayes' face as he looked down at me.

A shot of jealousy ran through me.
