Gabriel's POV
I walked down the white narrow hall alone. I usually was alone unless I was on an assignment. But even then I tried hard to stay away from everyone else. Patrick keeps telling me that my friends need to have my back on a assignment but I don't listen. If it comes down to it I can defend my self even if I am only fourteen.
I have been training since I was four when my parents died. All orphans come to the administration which is basically the police in this messed up world were almost anything is legal.
There's five laws in our government 1)Don't kill children or teens 2)Obey your higher class men unless there breaking a law 3)Don't cause a town war 4)Stay within your town limit 5)The leader will decide everyone's fate.
Not a very good system compared to what it used to be. Back when there was one president and equal rights. When everyone wasn't crazy and didn't try to kill children.
I ended up at the end of the hallway right at the room I needed to be. The conference room was were we discussed where we were going, what we were doing, and don't forget how we do it. When I opened the door everyone looked at me.
"Took you long enough." Tyler said as I sat down. Tyler is my older brother he's eighteen and he thinks he's king of the world.
Tyler of coarse looks exactly like me we both have green eyes and dirty blond hair. We could be twins if he wasn't four years older.
"It's not like the great and powerful Tyler is never late." I say and Jessica from across the table laughs. She's apart of the same team as me and Tyler. She's got green hair kinda like a Christmas tree.
She likes to dye her hair a lot but this is the first time she's never done a natural color. Jessica is nineteen and yes everyone is older than me. We all have nicknames and mine of coarse is Baby.
"Look at that, baby's not being a loner." I kick my brothers foot and punch him in the arm. I admit I am somewhat of a loner but it doesn't need to be announced. Tyler grabs my wrist with both his hands and gives me a Indian burn.
"Ow" I say kicking his leg again even though it barely hurts. He lets go. I think we're done until he knocks me to the ground and lays on top of me.
I throw my legs in attempt to hit him but it doesn't work. He hits my face a couple of times before standing on my stomach and shouting "The great and powerful Tyler has conquered Baby."
"Knock it off Ty." Ruben shouts aka Che its short for cheetah. Ruben is fast and mean he's the one you don't want to piss off. He may be only sixteen but he can kick ass also why his name is cheetah.
I forget to mention all the other team members. Theres Nico also known as the killer and by killer we mean he's a fun killer. Total nerd glasses he's obsessed with following the leaders direct orders.
His brother is Che and let me tell you they both have black hair but they are total opposites. Most likely because killer was raised by his loving aunt and Che was raised by his drug dealer godfather. Killer is fifteen years old.
Last there's Finn we call him the shadow because you never know he's there also he's extremely quiet. I don't know much about shadow but I heard he had a really rough life.
"Time to get started kids." Patrick Aka bully says. Bully has dark brown hair that's slicked into a Mohawk. Bully is the leader and he thinks he's all of our role models because he's twenty two. Which I'm pretty sure none of us like his ugly face.
The glass screen on the wall lights up with an image of a normal town. Towns are civilizations they rely on themselves only. They can't talk to other towns or the administration will take them to jail or worse. It is probably what are assignment is today.
"So kiddies, you guys are going to the beautiful town of Maywood. This town has a special power so everyone there chews gum and the people in charge can control there minds. But not until they are fifteen and once they turn fifteen the town leaders are in full control of the people." Bully talks the whole time like its a joke. When it is extremely cruel.
The screen changes and a picture of a beautiful girl pops up. She's got copper hair and gorgeous blue eyes. In the picture she has a huge smile and she's behind a bunch of blue mountains. I can't take my eyes off her she looks so amazing. I feel as though we're meant to be together. Like I've known her my whole life. I know it's stupid but I feel like I need to be with her it's my fate.
"What are you staring at baby." Tyler says mockingly. I look away from the screen even though I don't want to.
"Nothing"
"Mhm." Tyler mocks.
"Can I continue princess?" Bully asks Tyler. Princess is Tyler's nickname which suits him perfectly. Except no one calls him that because he hates to be called it and one time I called him princess when he was pissed and... Let's just say it ended with me having a bloody nose and two sprained fingers.
"So this hottie is..." I grunt at what Bully said she's not hot she's gorgeous and mine"Okay this GIRLS name is Averie and she lives in that division. She is of coarse only fourteen so she is not controlled. But Averie's parents didn't want her to be controlled so they didn't give her the mind control gum they gave her a normal gum. So when she turns fifteen she won't be controlled.
"We have reason to believe when they find out they will kill her. So thats we're we come in. We need to go into the town and take Averie before she turns fifteen. Let me tell yo the plan, someone needs to go in there tell Averie we are going to save her and bring her back to the ship. The thing is we need someone who they think they cant control and that's baby."
I can tell nobody's happy about that. They all seem to be giving bully the death glare. Not me though I'm happy. I get to rescue that beautiful girl. I get to be her knight in shining armor.
"My little brother is not going to a town were they are not afraid to kill teens and that mind control people. I think Gabriel wouldn't want to either. Right?"Tyler stares at me and so does everyone else.
"Um I want to go." I say trying to act confident "I'll be fine guys. It's not my first rodeo." Everyone looks convinced except Tyler.
"Gabriel I don't want you going alone on a assignment like this." Tyler says looking really worried. I never thought I would see the day the king Tyler was worried.
"Don't be worried Ty my nickname might be baby but that doesn't make me one. I'm fourteen years old." I say trying so hard to convince him.
"I have a bad feeling." Tyler said and that meant he was letting me I hugged hi and said "Thanks."
"Let's get started." Bully said.
