It came from outer space...
And the world has never been the same since.
It is a time of expansion and renaissance for all humanity.
Utilizing Gideon Ore, humans continue to terraform planets, building entire civilizations on them, all the while searching world after world looking for more ore to mine. For those that do find it, it means no less than a small fortune. Far more, it means control over the most important resource in the universe, a powerful source of energy so abundant that a very small amount can power an entire planet for centuries. It also enables faster-than-light travel called dimension space, among other things.
Meanwhile, Shieldists continue to train for the eventual day that they are needed and are called to become Berestrathanii. Using their photon bucklers, energy shields emitted from forearms bracers, Shieldists work towards protecting the hard won peace and harmony.
For, with mankind now spread over hundreds of worlds it is only a matter of time before we forget and swing back to the old ways.
Chapter 1.
The Agrud-class starcraft Nausicaä came alive when it received an urgent communique from far outside the star system. The onboard computer, Dax, immediately relayed the information to its intended receiver, Sifu Galen Shadowstar, but received no response. Surmising his communicator may be turned off, Dax raised the antennae on the ogival delta winged starcraft and employed scanners that immediately searched the surrounding forest area for the errant Shieldist Master. Once detected, Dax immediately dispatched a drone to go to him.
Deep in the forest, Sifu Shadowstar was with his student, Oriona Sundari, who was now sitting in lotus position, meditating, tuning out the immediate world to reach out to the larger universe. She took a deep breath in and then exhaled out slowly.
"Yes," said Shadowstar approvingly. "That's it. Connect with Dimension Space. Yes. Now draw on its energy. Let it strengthen you, revitalize you and heal you." Shadowstar was pleased with his student and said approvingly, "Excellent. That is excellent."
Sifu Shadowstar was an Ashogii, a cleric so in tune with the great energy of the universe he was able to spirit walk in Dimension Space. Ashogii cannot be Berestrathanii themselves as it is a different discipline but they can teach those who desire to walk the path such as his student Oriona Sundari. He sat down across from Oriona in lotus position, relaxed and channeled the energy of the universe, he then reached out to Dimension Space, connected with it and let his spirit leave his body. In spirit form he could easily see for himself his student drawing on the energy of universe which he observed as a glowing golden river flowing into her. Proud of her he realized she had come very far in her training and was ready for the next level — to train to be Berestrathanii, and perhaps one day a Berestrathanii Guardian.
