Derek's POV:
My blood boils as I stare at the empty kitchen. They're dead. I get myself ready and fly out the door to search for Aria. She can't be far. I will do whatever it takes to get her back.
I send out an entire search party, everyone tailing someone associated with Ryder. No stone has gone unturned. I've even sought out the best hackers in the country when I received Ryder's video of Aria being forced to say that she hates me.
A day goes by and my phone rings. I put it to my ear with a sigh. "You better have some good news about my wife, Gavin," I say into phone, my hands gripping the steering wheeling of my car. Gavin, one of my workers, sounds out of breath as he answers.
"We do. She's at the warehouse twenty minutes out by the Sunshine Grille," Gavin replies. I toss my phone on the passenger seat and press my gas to the floor. I don't even want to think about what's happening to her right now. She could be dead right now. My wife is a spitfire. He could've gotten sick of her mouth and just put her six feet under. There are other heiresses out there, he could find another one.
I stop panicking once I reach the warehouse. I have to make sure I do this right, and I can't do that if I'm shaking with rage.
I make my way into the warehouse and Gavin was correct. There she stands, tears streaming down her face as he berates her. My blood curdles with disgust when he lays a hand on her. Immediately, I press my gun to the back of his head as he backs away.
"No you won't. You'll be fucking dead," I cock my gun. "Now give me my wife or I pull this fucking trigger."
"Perfect, the gang's all here!" Ryder exclaims.
I want to shoot him so fucking bad and blow his brains out, but I want to spare Aria anymore trauma and suffering, and it wouldn't help to have her ex-fiance's blood splattered all over her.
"You knew," I seethe as it all clicks. This was his plan. He knew I'd find her. He knew I'd check here. Fuck, how could I be so stupid? I should've been more careful. I should've protected her in the first place. Fuck.
"Of course I did! Now, sweet dreams!" Ryder replies, still facing away from me. I give a puzzled glance before I feel a pinch in my arm.
"Tranquilizer darts? How old are you?" Aria's voice is the last I hear before submitting to the tranquility.
I wake up the loud sound of wind crashing against my ears. I slowly open my eyes and look to my right.
"You can't kill him!"
"I'm not going to, Aria. You are," Ryder replies as he places a gun in her hand. Immediately, she points it at his head.
"Ah, ah, ah, mi flor, look down at your chest," Ryder says. Aria looks down and sure enough, there's a red laser pointed right at her heart.
Fucking snipers.
I look down and sure enough, a sniper is trained on me as well. What kind of sick, demented game is he playing at?
"Oh good morning, sunshine!" Ryder says tauntingly as he approaches me. I want nothing more than to strangle him, however, if I move, I know I'm a dead man.
"Derek," Aria cries, looking at me. She tries to crouch next to me, but Ryder pushes her over. He delivers a kick to her ribs and my jaw clenches. I need him dead. He's not getting out of this alive. I wanted peace. I wanted to settle this amicably, but peace is no longer an option.
"So, here's the deal! Aria, you shoot him the head, or," Ryder tosses a gun into my lap, "you can shoot yourself in the head when you can no longer take it."
