It was lunch and Emma found herself seated in the large and modern kitchen. There were a few familiar faces around and she could hear laughter and chattering. With Christmas mere weeks away, Damian seemed to be a lot more relaxed and free. When he was around for lunch, he took her down to the kitchen in an attempt to make her more comfortable.
She was seated on a high barstool in the isle of the kitchen, while Damian was leaned against the granite counter at the other end of the kitchen. Beside him was Eros, who she quickly realised was Damian's, right-hand man. She had never exchanged words with him but a few times after Damian had left her in the kitchen alone, she was aware of Eros' stare. She had no doubt the every time Damian had excused himself from her presence that he would leave strict instructions with Eros to ensure that she was unharmed. She found it humorous that he would strategically position himself so that he was in the way of all the sharp cutlery.
Glancing at them again, she narrowed her eyes. They were both occupied in conversation as they ate. The two looked striking next to each other. They both radiated dominance and affluence. They were almost the same height and built too. However, Eros stood about a few centimetres below Damian but he was just as broad and muscular. Next to them, Emma looked like a midget. She was a little over five feet in height while they both stood at over six feet.
"Emma." She shook her head and glanced towards Damian with a questioning look. When she met his eyes, he gestured to the plate in front of her. "You need to eat," he reminded her. His tone was gentle and patient. "You have hardly touched your food."
Nodding, Emma forked up some of the creamy pasta and a small piece of chicken. It tasted delicious. Almost everything he had offered her to eat had been delicious. She scrunched her face as she thought about the day he had tried to feed her sushi. To say that he was unsuccessful in his endeavour would be an understatement. He couldn't even get her to take one small bite. He had ended up buying her a large pizza which she had happily eaten in its entirety.
After a few more bites, Emma pushed her plate away and she met Damian's scrutinizing gaze. He glanced at her plate then back at her. He was silently trying to boss her into eating more.
"I'm full," she mumbled. "I don't think I can eat any more."
He then rested his plate onto the counter and moved towards her.
"Are you sure you don't want anymore?" He asked her. "Not even a few more bites?"
She shook her head and assured him that she was indeed full.
