BILLIES POV

"you're gonna regret-" the man's words halted as a faint banging was heard.

"LAPD, open up!"

i let out a sigh of relief as i sit in the passenger seat of the police vehicle, watching the yard of the suburban home be swarmed with police.

"no!" marley screams, and i hear a loud pop. the call ends.

"shots fired!" i hear over the police scanner, and my heart drops to my feet. i toss my phone on the dashboard and climb out of the car quickly, the world spinning around me.

if that motherfucker hurts my marley, i will kill him.

i run toward the front door of the house, many cops attempting to grab me and place me back in the cop car.

"that's my fucking girlfriend," i scream as i push their hands from my body. "get the fuck off!"

gaining the strength in my legs, i run into the house and immediately find the basement door ajar.

"marley!" i shout, running down the stairs quickly. "marley, baby.."

time seemed to slow down as i reach the bottom of the stairs. there stood my marley, gun in hand, as she points it at the same man I'd seen at the gym.

the barrel of the gun was smoking, and marleys hands were shaking dramatically. her skin was stained with sweat and dirt, her hair cut unevenly, and her wide brown eyes completely dull and lifeless.

"oh my god," she sobs, her eyes trained on the lifeless man lying on the ground by her feet. "hes dead...i killed a man...oh my god."

"marlena, put the gun down," one of the officers tells her, aiming his gun at her. "put it down and step away from the weapon."

"i killed him," she mutters, tears falling from her eyes as she continues to stare at the growing puddle of blood beneath the body. "i killed someone.."

"marley," i mumble to myself, moving closer to the girl. "marley, baby, put it down.."

"billie.." she murmurs, her eyes connecting with mine. "billie, hes dead...jah's dead..."

my heart breaks at her words, my eyes immediately filling with tears as I take a step toward her. "mar, put the gun down and we can talk about it."

marley never fully got over jahseh's death. i dont think either of us did. it hit her harder, i think, because she was already so sensitive. losing her father two weeks after that, though..i think thats what broke her.

"billie," she says softly, her brown eyes now trained on the gun. "billie, they killed my dad.."

"they caught whoever killed your dad, baby," i frown, taking another step toward her. "please put the gun down, mar."

"everyone i love, dies..." she mumbles, her hands weighing the gun in her hands. "and this motherfucker.."

"mar-"

"shut up, billie." she snaps, her cold brown eyes staring at me. "it started with jah, and then papá.. it's only a matter of time before you..."

"don't you dare," I growl, taking another step toward the girl. "dont talk like that, marlena."

"its true," she tells me, lazily holding the gun in her hands. "my whole life has been nothing but loss...except for you - you're the only good thing."

"give me the gun," i whisper, now about a foot away from her. "give me the gun and we can go home."

"promise me youll never leave me alone," she murmurs, her bottom lip quivering as she looks into my blue eyes.

"i promise, baby," i whisper, holding my hand out for the gun. "give it to me and we can go home."

"i don't want to go home." she says dully as she presses the barrel of the gun to her own temple. "i love you, billie."

boom.
