For the record, we had NO idea it would end up this way. Our plans were only meant to be harmful for the people we would steal from and of course our families. But that won't make any sense until I explain why we decided on going through with this whole "running away" thing.
I've always been a simple child, with a simple family, in the same simple town we've lived in for over sixteen years. I have one brother, one dog, only ever gone to one school, miss goody-two-shoes never done drugs or smoked or drank or partied or had sex, blah blah blah. Extremely boring. Which describes my life until I met five specific people.Ok, so imagine this; super shy, quiet, innocent, inexperienced girl paired with a drug addict/compulsive liar for a project. Well believe it or not they became the best of friends after looking past all the negativities of each other. It started after the shy girl was getting bullied by her supposed "friends" every day in the locker room. She didn't do anything, she just took all the threats and hateful words toward her and left, wishing every day she could make it stop somehow. When she was pushed against the locker, her feet no longer reaching the ground, her project partner walked up and grabbed the bully's hair, then slammed her head into the locker. She took her new friend, now crying, outside and they talked for the rest of the day. After that first day nothing was the same. And with that, the little shy girl was introduced to a whole new world that had been as best hidden from her by her parents as possible.
In this new world she was introduced to a pessimist, a killer, a liar, a kleptomaniac, and soon she will discover her true self for the first time as well. After about three months the newcomer to The Group had made herself change. Not knowing much about anyone besides the girl that had rescued her months before. Now her best friend, Tessa, had brought together four people, each as with a different personality unlike anyone she's ever known before.
For someone as shy as Alexa, This was all a lot to absorb and understand. Quietly minding her own business, observing and learning each personality and how to deal with them seemed worth her while.
Riley never spoke to anyone ever. She never had her own opinions or stories or comments to share. It seemed that no one knew too much about her either. Just that she has problems at home with her mom and siblings now that her dad moved away she was stuck living with her ungrateful, drug addict of a mother that expected the world from her oldest daughter, and that just so happened to be Riley.
Andrew was very weird, always looking for laughs which almost hid the deadly side of him. Making the smallest comments about anything he overheard just making jokes about anything and everything. He also had a secret homelife he never spoke about but putting the pieces together eventually he admitted he and his older sister, and his role model, have been fighting because she is moving states away, leaving him alone. Instead of turning to weed or alcohol he goes hunting. He started with animals, then the occasional neighborhood dog, but soon he lost interest in killing things that didn't give him a challenge. He started getting creative, going out into the woods nowhere near his hometown, hunting for a lonely hunter or hiker out by themselves at night and would stalk his new prey, chasing them down until he had no choice but to end it's life. This is something he never spoke about at all for fear he would go to prison and disappoint his grandparents.
Tess always had something to say and whenever she stayed silent was when people would look at her, waiting for her opinion. She seemed to be the most interesting of the four. Tessa always kept the truth hidden from anyone close to her. She never trusted one soul her entire life enough to let them get through her barrier of lies. But that was how she liked it. Alone. That was Tess in one sad, little word. She was a labyrinth of emotions, feelings, and stories; truth being the prize of figuring her out. But the thing that made her significant against the others was that she never gave anyone the chance to get to the end of her maze.
Now in every group of friends no matter how "normal" or "popular" there will always be the one that sets the mood of every day; every idea, joke, plan, song, story, they say all affects the emotion of the people listening. This person in The Group happened to be Neo. His presence was dark, sinful, yet amusing and exciting. While he had the best family he did not have the best living situations. He never made any complaints about anything. But when asked a serious question he never shied away from answering it honestly. Befriending Neo had its benefits since everyone else at their school was scared of him. Neo was notorious for having short, random spurts of anger rise up within him to the point where he has acted out against mentally challenged kids, pulled scissors out on people annoying him, threatened teachers, and pulled his hood over his face, sat on the floor rocking back and forth, and mumbling chants of some kind to himself or whoever (or whatever) he worships. The following year Alexa had become one of them. Filling the hole that kept them balanced. Finding her way into their lives the same way they made their way into hers. It was unlike anything Alex had ever known, how people so different work together in the best of ways. The stoner, the hunter, the attention seeker, the silent, and an addition; the innocent.
