"Just go grab the damn bag and run, that's literally ALL you have to do. Don't be such a fucking pussy." They had all gotten on each others nerves lately and running low on supplies and food didn't help their attitudes.
"I did it last time! It's your turn, have fun."
"Will both of you shut the hell up? God, you're both so stubborn, Neo is waiting. I'll go grab it myself."
"Thanks Riley!" Drew and Tess smiled after her as she ran off on her mission. Riley hated it when anyone fought and wasn't afraid to get the adrenaline pumping in her veins. She casually walked past the leaking gas pumps and up to the vacant pickup truck. Neo was in his usual spot assigned by himself smoking a cigarette he found on the ground, waiting to give Riley the signal. As soon as he lifted his hand to adjust his bandana she climbed inside the truck. Hopefully this guys got something worth my time. She thought to herself while inspecting the rear seats. I'd hate to come out empty handed again. As Neo slowly puffed his half-gone cigarette Riley was busying herself with a bag full of clothes, four boxes of Ziplocs, and a lightweight wooden box with a skull on it. She was more interested in a giant black locked bag underneath the seat that weighed so much she had to use all her weight against her to pull it out.
Just then, a man with tattoo sleeves and three teardrop tattoos under his left eye, just above his sunken in cheekbones, burst through the gas station doors, knocking Neo off his balance. "Fuck man, seriously?" Neo spat at the giant man. He was extremely built and looked like he would run over anyone that got in his way but Neo, being himself, didn't care how scary he appeared. The man said nothing as he trudged on to his beat up Chevy fumbling with a new can of chew. Riley heard the rehearsed high pitched warning and she knew the owner of the truck was on his way back and she needed to get out with whatever she could grab. By the time she got the black bag free from it's former hiding place it was too late. The man was now opening the driver's door and putting the key in the ignition, leaving Riley with two options. The bald man pulled out of the parking spot unaware of his uninvited passenger hiding beneath his back seat.
Well shit. Riley was stuck in a moving truck with a stranger that didn't know she even existed. As they passed by Drew and Tess hiding in the bushes Neo walked up slowly, taking two more puffs of his second-hand cigarette then stepping it out. "Uh Neo, where is Riley?"
"In the back of that shitty ass Chevy," he said smiling and pointing past Tess at the pickup moving down the road.
"Sooo he took her?"
"Just give her 3..2.." Just as he said "one" the truck swerved left, then right, then came to a dramatic halt in the middle of the vacant road. The back door swung open and Riley stepped out carefully holding two bags, one obviously much heavier than the other one as she was limping back to Neo, Drew, and Tess who were hiding in the bushes. "Where is the driver? Should we run?"
"Uh Riley, did he hurt you?"
"What? We don't need to worry about him. Oh haha no thats not mine," She explained as she wiped off her hands on her sleeves, now splattered with deep red stains.
"We better go," Drew directed as he grabbed the heavier bag and the crew was off.
Back at their base camp, Alex had yet to come back from her mission and they waited for her return before opening either bag. In the distance they heard the call of a bird and knew it was Alex, letting them know that if they heard anyone getting close to the camp, it was only her and to not attack.
"Alright sorry that took so long, Jessi didn't want to make her mom suspicious so I had to wait until her shift started at work to meet her. That way she'd already be out and it wouldn't be a big deal."
"Sweet. Well, Riley killed a guy so we win haha," Neo pointed out.
"It's really not that big of a deal, Neo" Riley rolled her eyes as he bragged about her.
"Yes. It IS a big deal. That lucky son of a bitch was your first solo kill! I remember my first kill. The adrenaline, the rush, the victory, and the gloating!"
"Yeah well this guy's arms were too big for him to turn around and deck me so he was just flailing around. Before I left I grabbed his wallet too, just in case."
"Can we just dig into the bags now? I have got to know why the black one is locked," Drew's curiosity got to him as he began smashing the lock with a rock.
"Move over, I got this." Tess had taken lock-picking classes and was a pro at every lock, using whatever she could find. She was like a smaller, scarier, Macgyver. Within two minutes she had opened the lock and Drew looked inside.
"No freakin way,"
"Motherfucking jackpot!" Screamed Neo as he picked out two handguns. Drew dumped out the contents of the bag to further investigate. Inside they found three rifles, and another handgun. In the unlocked bag they sorted through some funny smelling clothes big enough for only Drew, several bags of weed, and the box Riley had found in the truck. Inside the box was a special customized knife.
"Holy shit," Neo said picking up the blade. "This is beautiful! Its a Pit Viper with a snakewood handle! MINE," He said excitedly running his thumb up and down the edge of his blade.
"Well, we should decide who gets what weapon since theres so many to pick from." Drew said while picking up the guns and laying them beside each other. After they decided who would be best with each gun they started to inspect their new treasure.
"How about we take a look at his wallet now?" Neo picked up the fold of leather and inside was an I.D. that read "Jacob Oakfire".
