Author's note: I'm alive! Just thought I'd let you know.

....................................................................................................................

That night, I couldn't sleep. I had yet another nightmare. Its always the same one. It wouldn't hurt to have a little variety, but I couldn't stop thinking about what I said earlier. Bertholdt was there. Oh well. What's done is done.

Suddenly there was a noise... like someone was trying to be sneaky, but clearly wasn't doing a good job.

???: Ow.

     Wait! I know that voice!

(y/n): Bertholdt?

Bertholdt: Huh. Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I woke you. I must have been a bit too loud. I know I'm not supposed to be here... I'll get out straight away. Please just don't say a word about this to anyone. Sorry, so sorry.

He spoke so fast. But I needed to know something...

(y/n): Wait.

He paused with one leg already out the window. Most people tried to avoid the windows because there was no glass or screen. Therefore, it was freezing cold, especially on windy nights, and all sorts of bugs could get in. But I wanted the easiest accessible path out if it was ever needed. That's why I chose this bunk. Besides, all of the bunk beds were full accept mine, so I had the whole thing to myself and I could pick whether I wanted the top or he bottom. Obviously I picked the top bunk.

Bertholdt: How do you know my name?

(y/n): What? So you honestly don-

That's when I remembered. I placed a book on top of a short pile of papers beside my bed to conceal a piece of paper with a detailed sketch of a person that resembled him.

(y/n): Lucky guess. What are you doing in the girl's room?

     Topic officially changed.

Bertholdt: Nothing. I was just leaving. Please don't mention this to anyone.

He proceeded to exit through the window. I looked at the bunk across from me. The top bunk had some girl named Ruth and the bottom had some mysteriously quiet girl who also seemed familiar.

(y/n): Annie. Is that why you were here? Because of Annie?

I heard him pause again and there was a brief moment of silence. You scanned the room to see if anyone else was awake and hearing our conversation. Nothing. Absolute silence.

Bertholdt: Is that supposed to be another lucky guess?

(y/n): You can call it that.

Bertholdt: Was I really that loud?

(y/n): Yeah you were, but I'm a pretty deep sleeper. I could've slept through it, but I was already awake.

Bertholdt: What were you doing awake this late at night?

(y/n): Nightmares.

Bertholdt: Yeah, me too.

There was another brief pause and I heard him trying to walk away.

(y/n): Wait.

I heard him stop again and walk back to the window and stick his head in. I climbed down from my bunk and reached under the bed to grab my stuff. I put on a grey hoodie and tossed a few things in my backpack and threw it over my shoulder. I turned around to face him, who seemed confused and hopped out the window as gracefully as possible. I wasn't nearly as tall as the 6"4 colossal human, only being (y/h), so it was a bit easier to slip through.
