THE QUARTET, aptly nicknamed the Sexy Sixth Years by none other than Blake himself, had reclaimed their usual spot at the Hufflepuff table. Close enough to the front to seem like good, eager students, but not so close as to be right under the noses ( and scrutiny ) of their professors, unable to partake in any mischief. Elaine always sat next to Blake and across from Cedric, with Milo next to Ced. Since their first year, that was the usual arrangement, and they never deviated from it. Except for then, when Blake decided to upset order and discipline and send the world into complete chaos by joining Milo on the other side of the table. Leaving a cheery, nonchalant Cedric to sit next to a lovestruck goober with a heart racing a mile a minute.
Elaine shot Blake a nasty glare, or at least, her attempt at one. From the infuriating smirk he gave her back, he was not the least bit intimidated by her glare. She had decided on the train that this was her year, but surely she couldn't make a move now. It was much too soon, wasn't it? Blake was just... he was trying to take the table with their friendship dynamic on it and just flip the heck out of it. Such a meddler, couldn't keep his nose out of other people's business.
Milo cleared his throat and shot her an apologetic smile ( on Blake's behalf ), looking at Elaine expectantly, and she blinked herself back to life. "Hm?"
"I asked," Milo sighed, "if you had a guess about what we're going to do this year. If your dad had let anything slip from the Ministry about this secret they're keeping."
"A guess about what you're going to do this year?" Blake cut in. "Get on my nerves, that's what."
Milo rolled his eyes and flipped Blake the finger. "Fine, new topic then," he grumbled and picked up his silver spoon. "Would you rather be a spoon or a fork for a day?"
Elaine had zoned out again, but it was a little hard not to when Cedric's eyes glimmered like tiny jewels of silver starlight. So really, you couldn't blame her for spacing out enough that Blake had to snap his fingers in her face with a shit-eating grin.
"I'd like to be a pizza cutter," Elaine answered, her tone dreamy.
"Exactly!" Cedric exclaimed, nodding solemnly, and his messy curls flopped down over his eyes.
